3.10 Warhead Area of Effect

Post by rsharp@advancedgamin »

In 3.10 an expansion of the warhead annex allows the editor to set the damage radius for FAE and Cluster type warheads. The minimum damage radius is 0.1 nm (the old hard coded radius) and so not specifying a damage radius will lead to no new behavior.

Also added, but not used, is a kill radius field.

Further application of these is being considered for the other area effect warheads. What do the editors think?

Thanks,
Russell

some questions about Beta 3.10

Does this change correct the problem with nuke yields?
[*]Nuke yields minimalized
200kton Siren missile on the Charlie sub only destroys targets within half a mile and does damage up to 2 miles (5%). In 3.6 it did damage up to 15 miles (1%). By my estimation, the range of effects on ships and ground targets is down by factor ten compared to 3.6 (Originally reported by Freek Schepers)
[/ol] Just trying to get it back to the previously functional behaviour for nukes.

No, it does not but that is certainly what I'm considering addressing with these fields.

So long as the defaults are set so that the previous H3 blast effect behaviour is returned, that would probably be fine.

However, I am concerned as to why the blast effects were changed in the first place since not knowing the rationale for the change means that there may be resultant behaviours that are not currently known.
