The sick man of Europe: an Ottoman Empire AAR
This is the first AAR for my new global domination scenario. The main objective is to see if it´s feasible to play against the AI. I´ve choosen the Ottoman Empire. The country starts in a very dangerous situation, as its economy is weak and it is surrounded by more powerful neighbours. Russia in the North, British controlled Egypt in the West, British India in the East. It´s possible to expand to the Balkans, capturing Sofia and Athens, but it will result in additional borders with Germany and France. It´s impossible to fight all the enemies at the same time, so my strategy will be divided in three steps.
1-We will advance to Sofia and Athens, then we will shift to a defensive posture in the Balknas, hopefully, France, Germany and Russia will be to busy fighting among themselves.
2-We will expand to Teheran and then a road between Baghdad and Teheran will be built. It will allow us to launch an attack against British India. The productivity of India is abysmal, so we could win.
3-We will also take a defensive posture in the Suez Area. Egyptian troops are too weak to attack us, but we also cannot attack them if we are shifting the main force to India.

The AI took 8 minutes to execute the 1st turn.
Here is the first screenshot. Notice the new unit (The Old Battleship). The Ottoman Navy is quite obsolete, and, even worse, our main base hasn´t coastal guns to protect the ships.

Already detected a trouble. The USA cities didn´t get their VP´s. Will be fixed in next release.
First turn is over, with Ottoman troops from Salonika advancing to Sofia. Belgrade and Athens will fall soon. Troops from Baghdad are advancing to Teheran but it will take extra time.

The AI took 10 minutes to execute the 2nd turn....still tolerable....
We produced 18 Rifle, 1 Staff, 3400 supplies and 9 pp this turn. Belgrade fell to us (due to border expansion). Teheran will be the next. Other nations are expanding as well and soon will be facing the Russians in the Balkans. The Germans are coming from the North and the French are occupying Italy.

The AI took 13 minutes to play the third turn. Teheran fell, and a new HQ was created (The Persian HQ in Teheran). In the Balkans, I have forces in position to take Venice, but it would expose my Northen flank to Russians and Germans. The Russians already took Bucharest and Budapest, while the Germans took Prague and Vienna.

Hi
Scenario looks interesting and such a nice looking Ottoman fleet. Which are the major players?

USA, British Empire, Russia, Germany, Brazil, Japan, China, France, Ottoman Empire. It will add a few units to the standard Bombur mod. Already added: containers, Old Battleship, Train. To be added: commerce raiders. The scenario can be downloaded from rapidshare (see the topic in the Forum), but it isn´t exactly popular (2 downloads up to now...)
RE: The sick man of Europe: an Ottoman Empire AAR
The AI took 15 minutes to play the 4th turn. We are seeing the first enemy troops. The British are moving to Basra, with units from Aden and, maybe, Karachi. Meanwhilw, we are moving a relatively large unit to Teheran, from where we will launch our offensive against India

In the Balkan Front, we are struggling to build a defensive line against Russian units approaching our cities

Reports from other Fronts:
USA troops surrounded Toronto. The British will be soon expelled from Canada, althought they can resist a few more years in Vancouver.
French troops are approaching Venice
The British took Kabul
Brazil is expanding to take almost all of South America, but the British and French colonies (Guyanas) are holding
USA troops took Mexico city, Guadalaraja, Monterrey and Havanna
Germany took the three main Congolese cities (Kinshasa, Libreville and Matadi)
Germany takes Amsterdam, while France takes Bruxelles
Malmo and Stockolm are under Russian control

Just downloaded and took a look at the scenario. It looks really ambitious.
A couple of thoughs.
- There seem to be place for another major power. May i suggest Austria-Hungary or possibly spain.
- Maybe to give the regimes flags. Adds a lot of flavour to the scenario.
- I think the arab peninsula was mostly under ottoman control at 1900.
- Alaska was US proberty in 1900.
Is it possible to have a peoples republic in the unoccupied territories?

-Not sure....Austria Hungary would result in overcrowding of map. Spain was a weak power. Maybe Italy, but I still must consider the time spent by the AI

-How to do this?
I think the arab peninsula was mostly under ottoman control at 1900.
-Me too. The map isn´t completely finished
- Alaska was US proberty in 1900.
-Right. Alaska, and Russian cities in the Far East are still to be created
Is it possible to have a peoples republic in the unoccupied territories?
-Yes, but I´m not sure about the time issue.
-Thank you for your hints
RE: The sick man of Europe: an Ottoman Empire AAR
Grymme, I´ve made some corrections in the mod. Lybia and the littoral of Arabian peninsula are now under Ottoman control. Ryad will be a neutral city (Saudi Arabia was an independent country in 1900). Alaska is under USA control.
RE: The sick man of Europe: an Ottoman Empire AAR
Here is production for the 5th turn. The AI took 17 minutes to play the 5th turn.

The Russians attack our main defensive line...the poor performance of the 1st Balkan Army was due to the lack of an HQ assignment...

Our defensive line in the Balkans holds, but the Germans are threatening it from the Northwest. The raising of a new Army South of Belgrade has fixed the things...for now

RE: The sick man of Europe: an Ottoman Empire AAR
Sept 23- 1901
The AI took 18 minutes to play the last turn.
The Germans tried an assault on Belgrade with inferior forces. They lost 4/5 units vs. no losses for us. The remaing unit was destroyed by our counterattack. A much worse threat is a large Russian cavalry force, also close to Belgrade. A French fleet, composition unknown is reported near Athens. In the ME, our armies were ordered to exploit the area near Aden. Meanwhile, our first engineers are being built in Teheran.
