Manual Q - Naval Team - Respawn

Post by Akos Gergely »

Is it just me remembering somebody claiming respawn will be done away with? In the manual it is clearly stated that it works nearly the same as it was in WitP. What's the turth on this? Are we going to get CV hulls No. 10, 16 etc at their intended comission date and this respawn thingie is in addition to that or will it remain the same as it was?

Thanks,

We have a scenario switch for this that can be set to "On" or "Off" in the editor. For the big campaign in the version you'll be getting, it's set to "On".

When it's OFF, and you get the hulls, what are the names of those ships? Yorktown II? Lexington II?

4 that is Lex, Wasp, Hornet and Yorktown ii

If respawn is ON in addition to these 4 hulls you get a replacement for any that are sunk (the delay is a lot longer than stock though)

Its primarily for th eAI and is set to off even for std AI scenarios

That would be Cabot, Bon Homme Richard, Kearsage, and Oriskany.. Which of course leads to the question what happens to the two that should be in the WWII OOB: Cabot built as a CVL and Bon Homme Richard CV-31 commisioned in November 1944?

We had a fairly involved discussion about what to name the ships.  We settled on Yorktown II, Wasp II, etc. to keep from confusing those who don't know that those ships were renamed while under construction.  Sort of a least common denominator thing.  If somebody wants to name them the name they were laid down as, there is always the option of making a mod.

Thanks for the answers guys, this is what I wanted to hear. I've always hated in WitP loosing 4 of the relatively early class members of the Essex class if I haven't lost a CV previously...and oh yeah, I'm going to rename them while in the queue :D

Very neat feature. Me likes. [8D]

You can do that? If so it would be easy to dig up completely new names that follow naming conventions like "Chancellorsville" or "San Juan Hill" or "Constellation"

You can only rename ships in the reinforcement queue when their names end in " II", " III" or " IV". This feature is intent to allow players to rename replacement ships if the original has not been lost. That is, so you do not end up with both Yorktown and Yorktown II in service at the same time.

Cool! I like that! And it makes sense for it to be the respawns only.

That is, as long as smartass admirals don't launch ships named "USS Margaritaville".... I might ask for a "No Joke Ship Names" House Rule!!!!!
