Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi everyone,

v1.06.02 is now available in our Members Club as a Public Beta for registered owners of Empires in Arms. This is a possible official release candidate, so if you're interested in helping us, download it and let us know if you run into any problems.

Marshall has posted the change list separately in this thread:

That's very disturbing, there's nothing I know of in the update that should be deleting any scenarios. I'll take a look tomorrow to see if there's something going on there. I hope you have a backup somewhere - did you check your recycle bin? There are also some free file "undeletion" tools that can recover deleted files.

Hi Erik,
It was midnight here in the UK when I noticed that the update was available,so I just downloaded it and run it without thinking about my 1792-1815 editor saved scenario,it just vanished when I run the game only empty slots in the editor menu, and just the 2 stock campaigns available to select and play in game.I will do a search of my pc too see if I can recover my saved scenario somewhere here's hoping.[8|]
Regards,
Graham.

Graham:

It should be scanning and importing existing scenarios when you go to the editor???
Check for the eianw011.ged type file?
Let me know...

Hi Marshall,
The original saved scenario file vanished when I installed the update,no big deal I was still experimenting with various changes via the editor to my 1792-1815 game, altering fleet compositions, corps strenghts, manpower ,starting money etc I will make a backup copy for any future updates.[:)]

Graham.

I will be testing 1.07 to make sure that it does not eliminate scenario files during an upgrade!
Thank you

Ok, indeed the installer did this. I'm not sure why, but the installer was clearing out the data and graphics folders before updating. This was a legacy part of the script from previous versions, probably necessary when updating people from the very original full release. I'll be discussing this with Marshall to find out why this was necessary and we'll see what we can do. I'm very sorry this resulted in the loss of your scenario.

The file has been updated and replaced, so it should no longer remove your saved scenarios. Thank you for helping us with this beta test.
