Modifying dat files?

Hi y'all.

Ok - so I'm lazy. I started a game that I'm well into and, being a typically confident (and experienced) gamer, I set the 6 computer AI's to "HARD". Only now have I noticed that not only do the computer players get sick bonuses at the hard level (I'd prefer to have cleverer or increasingly aggressive AI with *some* rational adds to AI performance), but, despite using EM of *2* (to try and offset the AI adds), I'm getting -3pp deducted when I'm at the -2 level on the track. Egads!

So - is there any way to edit the computer AI down to Medium (or whatever) once the game has been started?

I really don't want to start over if I can avoid it. Yeah, I'm a lazy SOB.

Not really at the moment.
I am eliminating the inflated bonuses in 1.07 because it is quite difficult (if not impossible) to overcome them at the moment.
CAREFUL! Do attempt NOT tamper with the DAT files or it could invalidate the game and possibly the install!
