Another informal Downfall poll

Post by DuckofTindalos »

Since there's so many people mysteriously present on a Saturday, let me throw out another Downfall poll. This one is a three-pronged one concerning Allied submarines in this partial-map scenario.

Would you rather have,

A): All historical Allied submarines present in the scenario, with the understanding that there'll be almost nothing for them to attack (this was the situation at the end of the war, and would have been during the invasion).

B): A token number of boats in the scenario, "just to have some".

C): No Allied subs.

I'm leaning towards B, but am willing to be persuaded.

T, as much of a JFB as I am, I'd still like to have option A. Give the player the option to have them do racetracks in the Pacific or sit in port. Also, that's more targets for me. [:D]

Well I guess that depends on the OOB. Are there any IJN units in the game? If yes then not option C. Second question is how much of the HI does the map cover? If it includes Hokaido then I say B so the Allies can use them to cover his flanks. Option A just seems like overkill if there aren't any targets. Of course if you go that way, a wise AFB might just park the majority of them in a port and forget about them.

I would like version A.  (Use them to pickup downed air crews.)

Will there be at last something to sink? Otherwise, they might do sub invasions to find out enemy strength, so they can be usefull. So A

I'm trying to make the OOB as reasonably accurate as possible, so there'll be very few IJN units left, with very little fuel.

Yeah! You'll just convert your ships to pedal-power and storm out to meet filthy foreign invaders that way!

They will, but not in the form of ships (can't represent them properly that way). They'll be CD units instead.
