Port Attacks in PBEM

How do two allies port attack in PBEM? Both set their fleets to port attack and they will simply attack at the same time?

I dont think they will. I think even individual fleets attack seperately in my experience.

I abandoned port attacks because I dont think the port attacker gets automatic windgauge and the combat often ends before enough damage has been done to offset the big damage the port guns do to the attacking force first round. You can search for my previous posts on the subject, they dont seem to be working the way they ought to. The defending side (stuck in the port) can actually "flee" the combat before taking very many losses, although where they would flee to (they are blockaded in port) is beyond me.

I tried attacking a port in detailed combat once and got mauled. Never tried that again. It seems to be way slanted in favor of the defender, though maybe I was just stupid and attacked a really strong port.

I think it is important to note that even when a port is blockaded, ships could escape or sneak into port. In fact, the deep draft of the larger ships of the line made it impossible for them to even get close to most ports (and certainly couldn't dilly dally in the shallow and narrow approaches to most ports), and because of that, they needed to have smaller ships with them to intercept smaller coastal shipping. I think it is okay to have ships blockaded and under attack to escape ONCE IN A WHILE!
