Creating a League With Only Custom Players (PureSim 2007)

Post by burritonator »

I was wondering if there is a way to create a league that only contains players that I've created with the "Create Hitter" and "Create Pitcher" options. It seems that when I create a new league, the only options are to either import major league players, or let the game generate random players. Is there way to delete all of the players from the league prior to the initial draft and fill the player list with only my custom players?

That's a very good question... but I honestly don't know.  Would be a cool thing to try and do.

I thought I found the answer to my question, but I was wrong.  I created a new league using Sandbox mode, and it did what I wanted - it created a new league with no players.  However, when I go to the "Players" section, the buttons to "Create Hitter" and "Create Pitcher" are missing.  I don't understand why.

So, here is where I am:
If I create a standard league, I have the option to create players, but only after the game generates a few hundred fictional players.
If I use Sandbox mode, the players list is empty like I want, but I can't create players.

As detailed and complete as this game seems to be, I have trouble believing that there isn't some way to create a league that contains no players besides the ones that I create myself.  Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Have you try this multiple times ??

Sometimes it will show no players and the buttons are not accessible. Delete all the files of those boched associations in your \Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2007\psa folder. Then try again. I have had this happen to me before.

If you dont want the players, just retire them. Thats what I do ! Its no big deal, just time consuming !

How do you retire players?  Can that be done prior to the initial draft?

I think I figured out how to do what I want.  If I create a league in Sandbox mode, the player list is initially empty, but the "Create a Hitter" and "Create a Pitcher" buttons are missing.  However, if I go into the "Import Real Players" function and import a single player, then the "Create a Hitter" and "Create a Pitcher" buttons appear.  So, I can now manually create the rest of my players.

OK, I'm really getting frustrated now.  I finally figured out how to create a league with only one player on the player list so I can create my own players to fill the league.  However, I only got 4 players created before I experienced a bug that forced me to delete the league and start over yet again.

Here's what happened:  I created a pitcher, but I got three consecutive error messages saying that the game couldn't model a player based on the ratings I had entered, and that I should try again.  So, I created the player again with adjusted ratings.  Then I found out that the game went ahead and put the player it said it couldn't create in the player list anyway, so now I had two copies of the same player.  When I clicked on either one of them, the game locked up and wouldn't do anything else.  I couldn't even get into the player's profiles to retire them.  Here's my concern:  What if I had manually created 200 players before I encountered this bug?  I would have lost all of my work.

Now that I'm done venting, here are my questions:

1.  What does it mean when the game tells it you it can't model a player based on the information you entered?  It didn't tell me which fields contained an invalid value.

2.  If I install MS Access on my computer, can I modify my players list in Access and then import it into the game?  Is that an easier or safer way to do it?

Thanks!

I don't know about safer or easier, but I believe you can edit any of the tables as long as you are using Access 2003 or higher.
