Op fire Assaults?

Post by Zarquon »

Ok, I see the point of not asking for confirmation in multiplayer, when a unit can assault an enemy vehicle, but how do I stop my FO trying to be a hero? Granted, he did kill that KV1, but then 8 T-26 spotted him.> Image

The only way to try to prevent one of your units from attacking is to set its Range to 0. However, even if your unit has a set Range of 0, that range will automatically change to a non-zero Range if your unit is fired upon, thereby once again "provoking" your unit to fire automatically. But setting the Range to 0 is the only way I know of to at least give your unit orders to hold fire (until fired upon).

Abd what about turning all weapons off? .. I'm shure this does not have any influence on assaults, but maybe on general OBfire ?

..never tried it, I must admit...

victorhauser: Are you sure about that? I know it was so with the earlier versions, but ever since 4.2 I haven't seen a unit with too short a range, return fire, or prompt for the player to do so. It seesm to have been lost when the opfire was put in command of the player, and though I've commented on this before, I've yet to see anyone deny or confirm that what I've seen is true.

Uh guys, I think you're missing the point a little here. The standard op fire procedure works fine for me, except sometimes when a vehicle passes an infantry unit, they automatically assault instead of triggering a fire opportunity. Even bailed crew seems to try this every once in a while.
