where is the tutorial?

Post by henri51 »

The manual says that there is a tutorial installed on the disk. If so, it is well hidden. So where is the tutorial? For newbies like me, I don't think that a tutorial is superfluous (to say the least)...

I've been playing Coral Sea. Good short scenario (15 days) to learn the ropes. Been playing for 2 hours and I'm about half way through the scenario.

Words cannot describe how awesome AE is! [&o]

Er, the tutorial is still "in the factory" - we made the last minute call to roll out the game without the tutorial - but the tutorial should be out shortly.

In the mean time, try the Coral Sea scenario while looking at the related manual pages (Air Group Screens for Air Groups, TF Screens for TFs, Unit screens for land units) the manual does a decent job of explained the screens and the Coral Sea scenario is small enough that you won't be overwhelmed with unit volume.

Work with the Coral Sea scenario. It's short and not much to fuss with so that you can pick up on the mechanics of the game.

Andy's Buccaneer is also a good one, in my view.

Buccaneer is a good temporary tutorial replacement. It has an invasion, a variety of air operations, possibility of surface action, CV vs CV, some ASW, and isn't too long. Also, if you want to play both sides, it doesn't give away too much about any other scenario.
