Should I do a clean re-install of WITP before using AE edition?

I'm currently running the latest WITP patch along with Andrew Brown's latest Combined Historical map and scenarios (version 2d) and wondered if I need to delete all of these before I apply the AE edition.
I also have several of RogueUSMC and Spooky's graphic plane/ship mods as well.

If I do a clean wipe will the AE edition patch my original WITP to the current patches as well?

Or is this totally unnecessary?

AE is a stand alone game.  It does not affect a WITP installation.

As has been said many, many times now, AE has no relationship with stock WitP at all, and the install will not affect your stock WitP installation in any way.

Ok thanks I had always thought that AE needed the original WITP to run...at least from the advertisements that I remember reading from last year.

I'm sorry I haven't kept track of all the postings here since last year....too many for me to go through.[:(]

No problem, George. Terminus is just a little tired.

AE was previously planned to require WITP, so that was a perfectly reasonable question. That changed recently, but I'm sure word hasn't gotten out to everyone yet.

AE is a stand-alone release now and will not affect or require your WITP installation in any way.
