Election 1864

Post by MilRevKo »

It is Nov 1864 and I have just won the election and I have 1033 political points. Should I call for a draft and take the additional 50 point hit. It is a hard fought PBEM game and I really could use the manpower.

In my experience, drafts tend to yield diminishing returns, even in 1861 and 1862. By the fourth draft it is hardly worth the PPs lost. Your mileage may vary.

You draft to increase militia to win the war. Fortunately the draft does not give the CSA 50 PPS.

After the election, seems to me the only effect of your victory points is on your cost to raise militia. The draft itself sets your militia costs for six months anyway; even if they bump up slightly for having to few PPs the real benefit is the first two months anyway. The key is the first two months, after that the militia cost is so high and you'll have so little time to get them to the front and train them those last four months' worth of militia don't matter.
