Bug?: Computer assigning pick-ups on its own

Post by moose1999 »

I'm playing the Guadalcanal scenario.
The computer keeps assigning pick-ups for the 3rd BG/90th BS stationed in Cooktown.
Everytime I turn my back some TF gets orders to pick that squadron up.
I release the TF and next turn its the same again - I find the computer has altered the orders or assigned some other TF to do it.
regards,

Briny

Are these two files ‘aei004-01.dat’ and/or ‘aei004-02.dat’ present in your ‘SCEN’ folder?

Sorry but those two files should not be there and you should delete them and restart your game.

I’m just a developer on the land team so not sure how much weight that carries but I do know that those two files will cause problems.

Hi that sounds good enough for me :)
Bit surprised the hotfix didn't address these as it does something to this scenario?
but the files seem to still be there after it...

anyway, cheers, loving this game -

Hi,

I also play the Guadalcanal scenario for allies and I've got the same automatic pick-up of the 3rd BG/90th BS airgroup.

However, during playing the scenario, I also obtained some other strange occurences.

a) I've noticed an automatically created allied pick-up TF, heading to pick-up _japanesse_ daitai located on a japanese base.

b) There is an airgroup in the scenario that teleports to the Port Moresby once for aproximately two weeks, doesn't matter where the airgroup is located; as soon as it is teleported to PM, it change its orders and starts suicide missions to the japanese bases.

c) There are four airgroups in the scenario, which have to be withdraw till a specific date. I've transferred the airgroups to the Sydney and let them to withdraw - with accord to the Game Manual. I've obtained some victory points for the withdraws. To my surprise, a day after withdraw, I received an empty (no pilots, no planes) airgroup for each withdraw airgroup, that has the same name as the day-before withdrawed airgroup.

d) The scenario starts with an Aus Bde and some Japanese LCUs present at Kokoda Trail, a hext next to the Port Moresby, coordinate 99, 130. However, the japanese forces are able to skip over the Aus Bde and march freely to Port Moresby. (I think that there is not properly initiated hex side of the hex 99,130; therefore the japanese units can get around Aus Bde freely.)

e) The map of the Guadalcanal scenario differs from the map of the big scenario. E.g.: Lunga base has natural airfield and port size zero, on the other hand in big scenario, Lunga has natural airfield size 5. Similar diferences are present for other bases (Milne Bay, Munda, etc.).

Please, is these issues inflicted by the presence of files ‘aei004-01.dat’ and/or ‘aei004-02.dat’ as BigJ62 wrote? I've deleted these files and try to start the scenario again, but point e) is unchanged.

Thanks - for your answer and help as well as for a wonderful game.

I saw this too.

Ditto. Have the same files in my SCEN directory as asked about. Sorry that I missed this and started a new thread which should be transferred here if someone cares to.

As I related, it was extraordinarily persistent desire of the computer to scen ships on that pickup mission.

But since I had sent the squadron to Milne Bay, the computer was attempting a suicide mission in the face of a return to base, retirement allowed command.

Base size

Post by wpurdom »

From Nik's commentary in the match with Joe, the base size change is intentional. Both sides have it - it's to let the theatre commanders have the same problem with allocation of resources and speed of development as IRL.

There is a public beta hotfix available now that fixes the problem with restricted HQs in scenario 4 but unfortunately the fix made the HQs unrestricted so official update will fix that as well. You'll still need to delete those files.

Did you take into account that the dates for both scenarios are not the same?

I think that wpurdom fully clarified the issue - the scenario was redone by NIK; see the wpurdom text.
