What do the infantry abbreviations mean?

Post by Scotters1 »

If I look at at infantry unit I may get something like this: 5506 11th PA Infantry Division INF A139 G18 E7 S126. I figured out that A = assault value, S= Support required, E=Engineers.

What does G stand for? (I thought it was guns, but I don't think it is.) I looked in the manual, but couldn't find the answer, so if its in the manual I'm sorry.

Some units have a V. What does that stand for. I don't think its vehicles.

One other unrelated question.

Is there any way to see on the map which areas are rich in resources such as oil production. I know you can find out by going to the intelligence report and then selecting "industry resources availability", but is there a quick way to view it on the map so I can quickly know what the Japanese may attack. I know that oil was in Java, but it would be nice to know the exact hexes at a glance.

And S = support available, not support required.

If you check a unit, you'll see the S number does not include disabled support squads, just those that are active and available.

I'm pretty sure V is aViation support. VERY handy when you're trying to get a quick look at how much air support is at a base.

I couldn't figure out G either, but maybe it is guns?

G is guns. The # of guns looks odd sometimes, because they include Anti-Aircraft weapons, as well as traditional mortars and artillery, IIRC.

And I think, when looking at a unit screen, that V = vehicles.

Thanks for the help guys. If anything v has to be for vehicles I guess, but when you actually click on the infantry unit and get the list of everything it doesn't seem to add up. Same thing for guns. I don't think V can't be for air support, since I'm talking about putting the cursor on infantry units, not on airfields.
How about my question about supply and oil. Any way to determine on map which site are rich in oil? (I'm guessing no.)

Which unit(s) have the V?

The tank units in the pic do not have a V - only the base forces have air support.

Yeah, I'm virtually certain V is for aviation support, at least in the context of any ENG unit.
