Upgrading tanks

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Upgrading tanks

Post by tiger111 »

I hope there will a fair amount of flexibility in what regiment can upgrade to.

In WIR,sadly, the path of light PZjagers Marder II and III upgrade was limited.Could not upgrade to Hetzer or JgPzIV.

Also most regiments/Btns could and did change to StugIII`s. Even Pz regiments in Heer and SS Divisions. Only as a result of shotages though.

Will there be an ingame editor where we can change upgrade paths as in WITP.?

Anyway CAN`T wait for this game.........:)

I did like the flexibility in WiR to upgrade units with non-historical tank types, especially if my tank pool had a surplus of a certain type of useable tank.

It looks like WitE won't allow changes in production upgrade paths. But will it let players upgrade tanks (and aircraft) inside units? Most of us enjoy manually changing those T-37's to T-34's even at the cost of experience points!

You don't directly change equipment, however if put them in "refit", most of the time they will get the better equipment.

Can you elaborate on this a bit more? Does this mean when refitting units I can set the T-37's to upgrade to T-34's and not T-60's?

I believe that is exactly what that means.

but, how does the production system reflect this, considering it is fixed? Does it adapt to the changes I made to the upgrade paths in the editor?[&:]

Doubt you can use the editor to change things in an on going game.

I think he means that using the editor you can set the upgrade paths of tanks/aircraft to anything you wish before you start a game.

Again, exactly what it sounds like - pre-game being able to edit things like upgrade paths.
