It's been out for 10 hours, and you want a new map? Okay... No map mod available.

EDIT: That was probably too harsh, but I'm sure if you think it through, you would realize just how long it took to draw that map, and that nobody has had any time to replicate the old one (or the inclination).

The AE map is moddable for anyone that doesn't like it, just as the original WitP one is (its made up of bitmaps). Its just twice the work now...

This map is really the best one for this game and well done andrew for this tough job you did.
this is the best accurate type of projection you could use due to the huge surface of the globe we need for the game.
the only thing i was surprised ,was the decision to use 40 NM each hex side as we, airmen et seamen are using the minut of latitude (60 NM) for our navigation , it remains a mystery for me, may be it's due to this equisistant projection

I think it's just fine. The work that's gone in to it must have been phenomenal. Well done Andrew. Very very good indeed.

Andrew, any chance to have a map with "World in Flames" style hexdots for sea areas in the future? The map is fantastic, but I don't like the black fishing net spread all over the Pacific. [:D]

You can turn off the "black fish net" - I always do.

I think Andrew has made his map for AE. Those who want a different one are welcome to make theirs! Just grab a paint program and get crankin'!!!

I agree. Tried my hand at Korea and Japan today. Thought I'd go with lighter colored seas and oceans to play up the contrast with land. Still not happy with the railroads and haven't put in all the place names in yet, but it's been fun.

However, drawing and painting up the Asiatic mainland is gonna be a b*tch. [:D]

Very nice work there! I like how you have cleaned and brightened things up.
The only thing that looks a bit "off" to me is the blue/purple trim on the shorelines. Maybe a color that blends in just a tad more?

The entire map is very clear and the sea looks like the sea ice.

More like 14,000 tiles isn't it? [:D] Someone should give Andrew Brown a medal with crossed golden cartographer's dividers. [;)]

FAsea...yeah I may change that outline color. A lot of 'xperminting left to do.

Anyway...got the continents drawn. Only a million billion little details to fill in.

Does the map editor allow other maps to be drawn or is this game fixed in the Far East/ Pacific?

Well since the "map editor" is any paint program (of sufficient power) that one chooses to use - there is no restriction on what the map look like - it just needs to be EXACTLY the same size - as the one provided with the game. It has to have exactly the same number of panels each of which has to be exactly the same size - and have exactly the same name. Other than that it can look like anything!
