ASW TF

Post by LeeChard »

If I have a mission ASW task force, react 5, can I leave it in port
and have it chase subs that are spotted within 5 hexes?
If yes, what setting should I use, Remain on station or Patrol/Do not Retire?

Unfortunately no, ASW TFs do not seem to react to submarines.  [:(]

You can give them patrol areas though and then leave them to it.

This is correct - ASW TFs do not react to submarines. They only clear the hexes that they enter with normal or patrol movement.

I understand that some people may with for them to react to detected submarines but that feature is not currently implemented.

Funny, I thought I had seen ASW TFs reacting to subs many times now.
The messages during turn execution flash by so fast though, that I might be mistaken...

Yep I have seen that too, Something like ASW TF220 reacting to sub at 123,123 something like. Of course that coud have been in the same hex but I don;t think it was.
