Lists

Post by purstelldf »

Hi All,
I was wondering if there is a way to obtain a list, in text or excell, of the information in the game. Ex: the aircraft, the ships and the ground units. If there was I believe that it would be a big help in building user-created scenarios.

Thanks in advance
Dan

WitP Staff will help somewhat, but most of us just take the time to gather that information.  I agree, it's necessary.  Working on that info right now, as a matter of fact. [:D]

How are you gathering your information? Through the game or the internet?

Hi Dan,

maybe you should give "witploadAE.exe" a try.
It is located in the "SCEN" folder and you have to run it in a cmd-window.
Witpload generates 9 .csv files which can be sorted and reorked with excel or
its open office pendant.
All data of airgroups, ships, ship-classes, base and more are included in these
files.

I gather it in game. I'm talking mainly about ship/land/air unit locations. We need that in order to do specific planning. That takes time. WitP Staff is great for most stuff, but I still need to know where everything is so I can figure out where it needs to go.

Hi Oliver,
Can you give specific details on how to do this? I opened a dos prompt, changed the directory to the scen folder and typed in witploadAE.exe and it just says:

WITP AE data export/import utility - Version 7.9
Loading scenario number # 1
WITPdev001.csv: No such file or directory

I am fairly competent with Excel and CSV files, but I lack a lot of competence trying to start the whole thing.

Thanks for any help you can give,
Brad

PS, if you can tell me how to import the CSV files once updated, I'd be grateful as well.
The older I get, the better I was.

Hi Brad,

to export a scenario to excel type witploadae /s1 /e in a DOS-Box in the SCEN-folder.
/s1 specifies scenario no 1 and /e = export data.

Modify using excel or csvedit or notepad++ and re-import your modifications with
witploadae /s1.

Hope that helps

Brad,

At the DOS prompt type WITPLOADAE /h for a list of commands. Importing back in is very similar to exporting.
PO2 US Navy (1980-1986);
USS Midway CV-41 (1981-1984)
Whidbey Island, WA (1984-1986)
Naval Reserve (1986-1992)
