Keep eating the Fish & Chips then and eventually we'll convert you to Cricket! [:)]

I am certain that not even the British REALLY understands all the rules in that game [:D]

You got the "Wealth" but bog all else [:D]

Not true Peter, I inherited some fine British teeth which kept me in orthodontistry for over a decade! [:D] My cousin is in the hotel business over there in Bath.

Mus we might be neighbors, I live in Portland, OR area myself. [:)]

Also inherited English teeth from that side of my family.

I live in Tacoma, WA.

Being a gun owner and avid shooter I also appreciate the Anglo-Saxon militia tradition we inherited.

HiHi

Good call Terje, and the English aren’t that good at the game either (too many foreigners in the team over the years, including Celts for heavans sake!), still for a civilising influence little beats a sunny afternoon, near the Village green with a Pint in your hand just watching a game of Cricket unfold ... so bugger the Rules! [:'(]

Not really too sure what English teeth are folks unless you mean just plain 'Bad', but orthodontistry sounds really really painful, like in “my wallets empty!!” [X(] type painful.

Tacoma, WA. That where the Bridge is/was that’s given as an analogy for the failure of the Alliance system/balance of power re the origins of WWI?

You talking about the Tacoma Narrows Bridge? "Galloping Gertie" that shook itself to pieces in 1940 due to an underestimation in the amount of wind forces through the Narrows?

Brits in.

Weird turn. My good friends the Spaniards cancel their alliance with me. I cant think if any friendly implications for that... Is this the part of the game where I get to weather the storm of everyone in the world attacking me?

[:D]

On a side note, this treaty with the lending that Lenin came up with ( Not sure of the motive, testing to see if lended provinces can be insurrected maybe? Just sick of all the insurrection?) has revealed some weirdness I had not previously noticed with lending.

Lended provinces do not count towards waste in any way. That should be changed in the next patch, along with whatever they do about insurrections.

Yeah you could say that, painful for me in every way though! I lost count of how many stubborn, oversized teeth I had to have pulled out of my skull. [:D] Ended up costing a fortune though, you're right. The Brits can keep the pedigree... not sure why anyone would want to protect such flawed genes anyway (just kidding). [:D] I couldn't wait to get back across the pond last time I went though, the patronizing of my mother's disabled friends etc was too much. Not talking of Brits in general, just my snobby relatives over there from Bristol.

Anyway looks like I'm farting in church again, forgive my rambling.

HiHi

Galloping Gurtie rings Bells, I’ve seen Newsreel footage of the event and it really is quite amazing to see; very roughly the analogy runs that it was not the high winds (i.e. outside forces acting upon the bridge) that caused the bridge to break, from an engineering perspective it could have coped with those, but rather the rigidity of the actual Bridge structure itself (i.e. the Alliance/balance of power) that did not allow any way for those forces to be dissipated outside the bridge structure, therefore something like an internal loop system was set up whereby the external forces being exerted on the bridge were by some weird laws of Physics (it was very clear to me at the time, not so sure now) actually amplified within the Bridges structure and it was that that caused it to fail (allegedly all similar type bridges post Gurtie have some engineer factor included that stops the process being repeated) ... Sheee, hope you understood all that. [>:]

Ah! The penny drops I think you mean Horse teeth, right, and as far as I know that would “seem” to be an English, not British as in Anglo- Saxon/Celtic, genetic trait and I would hazard a guess largely through the English Nobility at that ... so Bill & Mus both get a [&o] [:D]

HiHi

My good friends the Spaniards cancel their alliance with me. Nothing overtly unfriendly in the action at all but having noted some rather large English armies at sea and the renwed subsidies sent by England to Portugal, Spain merely thought it prudent to be in a position to offer some defece to Portugal should the need arise, hence the cancelling of the alliance. No horse teeth here, just crooked. English side could have been minor nobility, I am not really sure. Lots of third, fourth, fifth, etc. sons going off to the New World to seek their fame and fortune. Other side of the family is from France.

The thing that destroyed the first Narrows Bridge was mechanical resonance.

Some good math in this article explaining how it works if anyone is in to that kind of thing like me:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacoma_Nar ... dge_(1940)

Like a swing a bridge can store potential energy and small outside forces can amplify the energy if it is exerted at the right time during the "swing" basically. Think about the small forces from a childs legs exerting a massive increase in force on the downward part of the swing.

Troops being brought back to England after our war with France was concluded?

Also why would I subsidize Portugal and then attack it? That would be like flushing money down the toilet.

Game situation being what it is and the fact you dont seem to see any conflict with ceasefires and alliances with my enemies I took it as a sign of impending attack.

Send me an email asking me whats going on next time or something. That alliance was being maintained on my part mostly as an early warning system since you never helped me against my enemies.

lol horse teeth, that's what I have! Never heard it described that way, but really fits. [:D] Add to that a slender/small sized jaw, and there you have it. Not sure if you've heard of the actor Clive Mantle, but one of my cousins is married to him. The Bristolian accent sounds a bit hoity toity to my American ears, am more used to the London accent. HiHi

I am prepared to offer my seat here.

Personally Terje I see no reason for you to give up your slot, you are an integral part of the team that has unfortunately had some Real life (spit!) probs, these I feel can be carried by the team as a whole till they get sorted, it's unfortunate that this latest work prob has come on top of other folk also experiencing RL probs with work, me included, so unless you have lost your appitite for the game hang on in there and we'll all ride out the storm together.

That said It would however help if you could somehow get to a puter and notify the MB when your changing work comittments suddenly up and bite you [:)] , I realise that might not always be possible but please do your best.

All the Best
Peter
