Beta Patch... Error: Can't Create DX7 Object

I installed the beta patch, and when I click on Play WITPAE in the gamemenu, I get that error:

Error: Can't Create DX7 Object



Searched forums to no avail... any hints or ideas?

Post a DxDiag file please.

Also, please tell us which command-line switches you are using, if any.

I'm using whatever command line switches are default... (i.e. I don't know what that means)

Very odd... you should update your sound drivers, but your video drivers seem fine.

I can't imagine what would cause that. Try adding the -dd_hw switch to the "Quick Start" shortcut in your Start Menu folder for WITP AE and let me know if that helps.

"D:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -dual -deepColor

In your case you should try -dd_hw as Erik has suggested.

Just some internal troubleshooting parameters for now, likely to be different in the next build so I wouldn't worry about it. When we get to the next official update, any new switches will be documented.
