Troops in cargo space offset

Hi-As all can see, I'm feeling my way into this game-with great pleasure!

In the manual, it states that the troop in cargo space offset for Allied xAK is 6.

Fine, but what does that mean? I realize it is a penalty, but how is it applied?

Example: If I have an Allied xAK with a capacity of 6000, how many troop points can I carry in it? One way of looking at it would be-6000/6=1000 troop points. If this is not correct, please, someone, show me the correct way.

You got it right. 1 troop load point in that case takes 6 cargo capacity points.
