Ugh, c'mon...just stop already!

Too many of these games.

About the Game

In the summer of 1944, the Second World War entered its end-game when the Allies launched two major operations that would drive back German forces on both the Western and Eastern Fronts at once. Their names were Overlord and Bagration. Overlord famously commenced with the D-Day landings in Normandy and ended in the Liberation of Paris, while Bagration - a far less well-known but far larger Russian operation - crushed the invading German forces in the east, leading to their complete withdrawal from Soviet territory. Had either operation been unsuccessful, history could have been very different. In the ultimate test of military strategy, Order of War will challenge you not only to lead America's finest to victory in the west, but also place you in command of the German forces charged with repelling the Red Army's seemingly unstoppable offensive in the east. Even the keenest military minds will find that it's one thing to make history, but quite another to change it.

...Do you have what it takes to command?

Key features:

* Experience WWII warfare on an epic, cinematic stage; that truly captures the intensity and scale of the battlefield.
* Take Command of an entire armoured force consisting of up to 1000 soldiers, tank divisions, armoured vehicles, heavy artillery and air force.
* Players can choose between two different campaign modes offering completely different storyline, missions, objectives and environments.
* Experience the unique dynamic camera that allows players to command troops over huge geographical scale whilst maintaining movie-like vistas and detail.
* In-depth gameplay modes featuring 2 x different campaign modes, multi-player, Deathmatch, skirmish and Hardcore mode.

Nice graphics. Lots of explosions. Unfortunately, the way the trailer was edited, that's really all the info one could gain about the game.  :x

I've no clue what their "deathmatch" mode of play is supposed to be...
If I wanted to waste time and bandwidth, I'd probably grab the demo, let it rot for a few months, and then delete it (just like I did with E:TW).

Looks like another forgettable WWII RTS.After Faces of War/Men of War and Company of Heroes the WWII RTS race should be over.I won't even bother with this title.I already have FoW, MoW, and CoH.No other games now or in the future will measure up.

EDIT:Did you see the system requirements for the demo? The requirements are as bad as Crysis.[X(]

For recommended, they want a 9800 Series card better, and they are advertising Alienware.[8|]

Pretty funny that somebody complains that there are two many WWII games. As though their judgment is superior to that of the market.

Apparently, there aren't too many of these games. If there were, companies wouldn't be spending time and capital to put games out on the market.

What you probably mean to say is: "Darn it, there isn't enough demand for the games that I want to play, so companies are not satisfying my own interests."

I don't understand the negativity towards these games. Sure you don't have to like them. I don't. But I'm not bothered that other people want to buy them. And the company making the RTS may well not be very good at creating turn based hexed games - so the fact they are creating them isn't really a "real" loss to our hobby.

Horses for courses - if somebody wants to play them, let them. If companies want to develop them - let them. My interests are not threatened. [:D]

I didn't find anything wrong with your post, V22 - it's fine to post opinions here and everyone has different taste in games. The OP was making the same point you did, others disagree.

lol V22 - you're a touchy wee sod! Every other post I see from you is you apologising because you think someone's having a pop at you! Chill dude! [:D]

I was only pointing out that just because it's not "our market", doesn't mean they should slow down making them. There are plenty of people wanting to play those kind of games - jeez - I wish my fingers where fast enough to play those games!! I had loads of fun in the old days with Dune and Command & Conquer.

I liked Dune as well until I realized the evil that it represented.

Sorry about that, Osprey. I didn't mean to come across as "snapping" at you or the guy who posted the original thread. But I was sort of snappish. I need a cup of milk and a cookie or too. Then I can chill out.

I'm not so much tired of WW2 RTS games as a while as I am tired of seeing Normandy...AGAIN.

Nothing wrong with games like these, I probably wouldn't have posted at all if it wasn't for the way they were advertising it, which seems to focus entirely on apperance and doesn't offer even the slightest clue as to how actual gameplay might be. That is, other than that the game was "cool" and "epic" and that I was supposed to buy it, I knew no more about it than before.

Oh well, I guess I'll just use that as reinforcement of my believe in the gullible, ignorant masses and add another storey or two to my comfortably elitist ivory tower. Maybe from hihger up, I can also glimpse how their "RTS deathmatch" is supposed to work. [;)]

I stopped caring about most rts ww2 titles when I saw an advertising monkey extolling the virtues of one by telling everyone "You get to see lots and lots of panzer tanks in this game!" And then subsequently seeing a magazine advert with the "panzer tanks" in it...ugh!

Why not make a game about Okinawa for a change?  It was a bigger amphibious landing than Normandy was and it was a good battle down the south end through the Shuri Line.

The Problem is:Most people dont even know what okinawa is, so it probably wouldn't sell good. With this release coming from a major company(square enix) I doubt we will see anything different.

I still can't get over the insane system requirements, the graphics are great dont get me wrong but I've seen just as good or even better looking games than that with much lower system requirements.IMO I think they up system requirements to advertise alienware:
Minimum:
OS: Windows® XP SP2
Processor: 3.0 GHz, DUO 2.0 GHz or better
Memory: 2 GB
Graphics: 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or better
DirectX®: DirectX® 8.1
Hard Drive: 10 GB free space
Sound: Sound card

Recommended:
OS: Windows® Vista
Processor: DUO 3.2 GHz or better
Memory: 2 GB or better
Graphics: 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800 or better
DirectX®: DirectX® 8.1
Hard Drive: 10 GB free space
Sound: Sound card
Note: Increased performance will be noticed on an Alienware Area 51® X58 Desktop

So they basicly telling you that you have to have 9800 GT or better to even think about putting it on high settings.

A lot of that has more to do with draw distance and number of units to be rendered that the actual raw graphics quality.

And those AREN'T insane requirements. Several games that have come out recently have recommended similar graphics cards and/or quad core processors. It's the start of the next evolutionary jump forward for what you'll need to run games.

Well unless this game has a Battalion of men or more then I doubt it's because of draw distance and number of units on screen.I can tell you you dont need a 9800 GT to max out company of Heroes in an 8 Player deathmatch.Plus the map doesn't disappear after the map edge in company of heroes, so its highly unliking its bacause of draw distance and number of units.

True, so lets see if this game has huge maps, otherwise there is no reason for such high requirements.
