Post by Templer_12 »

Hi,

my system running a Pentium4 3.00GHz with HT (Hyper-Threading) Technologie.
Should I aktivate the "-dual switch" mod?

Greetings

You can always try it, it won't hurt anything. If you see better performance you can keep it on.

O.k. fine. Thank you for the answer.

If I use the "dual" mod. problems with the animations (Air/Naval) showed up.
The sound is heard always but the animation often stop for about 10-15 seconds and then resume.
Maybe the "-dual" mod. won´t work fine with my Hyper-Threading Technologie.

I waive the "-dual" mod.
I have read somewhere in a posting that someone was very excited. His time to load the game and loading a save game now would be under 25 seconds.
I currently run the game quite well. Loading the game and saved games were from the beginning, even without a "-dual" mod. with me under 25 seconds.

If the "-dual" mod. only ensures that the loading time of the game and the game stands falls below 25 seconds, I don´t understand its benefits.

If I start playing, I don´t start the game every 15 min or so. Or 20 times a day?

My machine is hyper threaded and 3.0 Ghz.
Before I used the -dual switch loading would take about 30sec and I would get delay times of about 5 sec when clicking on the map.

I applied the beta patch, updated my video drivers and use the -dual switch.
The game now loads in about 3 sec and no delay times when clicking on the map.

The default settings we put in the hotfix seem to work fine on about 75% of systems, but a significant fraction get some animation issues. The next beta update will include more performance option switches so that every player can find the setting that works best to speed up their system without creating any visual glitches.

Templer, you should try running with -dual but also with -dd_def to see if that clears up the animation issues for you.

Thank you Erik.

I tested "-dd_def" without a improvement in a szenario.
No animation issues but also no speed, or other reconizable improvements.
What "-dd_def" should do?

And to be sure: a processor with hyper-threading enabled is treated by the operating system as two processors instead of one.
So it´s still a single core!

Well, I´m happy the game run fine on my system.

Maybe some of those problems (delay times of about 5 sec when clicking on the map - huh ) won´t show up because for my System and it´s age I use a unusual size of RAM (2,75 GB)?

And I'm annoyed that I've bought the game so late.
Ordered the physical and also downloaded the game on 1. August 2009. Playing every day since then. Still scratching the surface. But now sometimes there are same "..oh, ah...thats the way it works...brilliant"
