Finding a Task Force?

Post by Toby42 »

Is there a quick way to find a task force on the map? I click the show task Force button. I then click on a task force, but it doesn't take you to it on the map! They are hard to find on the map just by looking???

The task force button is all that's available for for locating a task force, other than your memory. I know starting out it seems difficult, but pretty soon you'll know where everything is on the map.

I rarely use the task force button unless I can't find a TF I believe should be somewhere, but can't locate it. It will at least confirm that it exists and I didn't just imagine that I formed it. Usually I find the missing TF icon hidden under one of the location names on the map.

It does, but not without going through a number of keystrokes. If you know the assigned number of the task force, you can find it in the list and click on the number. That brings up the screen for that TF, which displays all the ships assigned and the destination. If you back out of all the windows, it will leave you with a map section containing a highlighted hex for that task force. That gives you the location of your TF.

Again, you need to know the TF number to do this, which is not something I generally know off-hand, therefore I rarely use the button.

Hope this helps.

Hey Treale, even if money is a little tight, you might be able to afford this card. I'm assuming you have a 4x/8x AGP slot. http://3btech.net/chnvge5625ag.html Even has free shipping.[:)]

Treale my brotha, make sure you have a 8x AGP slot for that card, as I don't think its 4x AGP backwards compatible. However, if what you have is 4x AGP, then check this card out. http://3btech.net/pnynvge6225a.html Its 4x compatible.

Be cool

First, is your computer home built or a brand name? If its home built, what model number is your motherboard? If its a brand name, (like Dell, Compaq, HP, ect.) whats the model number for it? Also, if you know exactly what video card you have now, (if its not a  integrated chip on the board) we can find out that way. We'll get it figured out, then I'll let you know whats the best bang for your buck.

It's an eMachine which is a Gateway. It has an Intel motherboard. It has an integrated chip on the board and that's the problem. I can't do anything with the video memory. That's why I was going to add avideo card to it! I've always bought computers with open-ended boards. I try to avoid ones with integrated chips. This one slipped by!!! The copmuter is 5 years old, so I can't do a whole lot with it, but it still works fine. I added some extra ram and have 1gig that is shared by the video (64mb).

Which eMachine is it? It also has a model number that goes with it. (example: Gateway eMachine T3642)

Also, if you get a look inside, you can somtimes see the motherboard model number printed on the board itself.

Cheers

T-5026. Chipset:Intel® 915GV chipset. Graphics:Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 w/DirectX® 9 support. I'll have to open things up to get anymore info. I guess that I could email tech support and see what they say, but that would probably be a futile propositon!!

Good news my friend. You actually have a PCI-express slot[:)]. When you said your onboard video memory was only 64meg, I thought it was an older agp slot. Shame on me[;)]. Now your options are much better. This is the best bang for your buck. You can't go wrong with this card. http://www.ascendtech.us/itemdesc.asp?ic=VC256ECSN7600GT
