AE-Wiki?
What about an AE-Wiki by all the hard-working JFBs in this part of the forum?
Complete guides may be possible as well as a central webspace for all the data we've collected.
I can offer the necessary webspace, but it doesn't make sense if all of the guys who have collected data so far aren't joining. No need for a stillbirth...

Go right ahead...[:'(] There's been a couple of wiki projects for stock that haven't gone anywhere. It seems like double effort to me.

Thank you for your encouragement, Terminus. I know that your heart is full of love and that you always just want the best for me! I sincerely appreciate this! [;)]
To the others: I have no ambition for a full scale wiki. But copying the content of the best postings about the single issues into one single document can't be too much work, as well as it should be very usefull.

I think the purpose of a wiki is that one person does not have to write the whole thing. Hopefully, other people will contribute. Even if it acts as a dump for thread posts it still might be useful. I know i would find it useful, i hate searching forums [;)].

RE: AE-Wiki?
For newbies like me, AE-Wiki would be a very useful resource. In this game the learning curve is so hight that each aid would be valuable.
I noticed your commitment, I think you will do wery well.

But my time is also limited, so help is a must.
I adress forum members like Mike Solli, Q-Ball, Kitakami, n01487477, vonSchnitter who already do research and share it. With a wiki, they might reach more and their work will remain usefull longer.

By spending just a few minutes on the thread posts, they'll also turn into an article easy to read - if a content like "which ship convert to which type" can ever be an easy read.

I would definitely contribute... even though all my conclusions are probably wrong
I think it is a great idea. Over time (and I mean over a long period of time) it will become something VERY good.

I'll kick in for sure as time permits. I need all the help I can get, not sure how much I know. I find all the charts etc. helpful.

Blind Sniper also offered me help, but I'm not sure whether the offered participation will be enough.
I'm really short on time, so my help on the project will be neglible. Can you do it alone? Will you do it alone?
As said: I'm not interested in a stillbirth.

RE: AE-Wiki?
I have always wondered why Matrix doesn't "sponsor" a wiki for the manual. Just put the whole thing up as a basis to start with, and then let the players go to down making the "manual wiki" correct.

RE: AE-Wiki?
Blind Sniper, Kitakami and Q-Ball, anyone more?
Who will do which par? I don't see any sense in beginning to work to end somewhere frustrated and leave all the work unfinished and useless. So I'd propose that we look what has to be done to have at least a usefull "How to run japan properly" wiki. For that, anyone may volunteer for one or more pages of the project which can finish for sure.
I'll do a "What to do with each class of Japanese Merchant/Tankers. Where to convert to, etc."
Volunteers wanted!

RE: AE-Wiki?
Historiker,
I'll be in if time permits with my other "pet" project and my long suffering, but highly enjoyable PBEM V Nemo121 ... I'd like to eventually see not just a discussion on how to run Japan, but some on the mechanics and basic display information (much of which has been put into threads here - and they've flown off the front page in mins) as well as a general HOWTO( I'm an educator / coder, so mini-tutorials are my thing):
I'm sure you have seen this, but it was and still is pretty good:
http://witp.kodapa.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
I think generally after setting up the main WIKI areas, I'd hope that much of it would fill itself with contributions from forum members. Of course T could be right, and forumites will just come here and ask over and over, and the answers won't be collated and therefore it will become defunct... I'm a bit more positive than that, so count me in after patch 1 etc...

This is where I think using the original manual for a starter works best. The skeleton is already done...you just flesh it in.

RE: AE-Wiki?
Ok guys...
I've just talked with my favorite opponent bigbaba and we agreed to start a great campaign, soon.
I'll consequently have to find out as much as possible about Japanese Industry, plane production, ships etc. So some work of the wiki will be done by me as I have do find it out anyway, but I'd be happy to see you joining in!

RE: AE-Wiki?
Historiker,
Wiki is not the way to go. You will not reach more people on it. I don't have Wiki and I suspect one or two others don't, either. So anyone currently on the forum but not on Wiki will be out of the loop.
If you are having problems searching the forum, perhaps someone else can give you assistance. I usually can find stuff right away - using select keywords is important.
Peace,
Doc Smith

RE: AE-Wiki?
Ignore the last post. Musta had a brain fart. Mistook Wiki for Twitter. Dhoh!
RE: AE-Wiki?
There already is another Wiki (http://www.mikekreuzer.com/witpae/index ... =Logistics), but not a lot has been posted there yet. A wiki does seem like a good idea, but it should be easy to get there from this forum (sticky would be nice). I'd be willing to help out with writing up some of the information that is posted here on the forum. I'll also second Knavey in saying that the manual would be a good starting point, many questions are for clarifications of the manual so extra info on some of those topics would be good to start.
The AE-Wiki, help fill it out
