Can you resize the window?

Post by fbs »

If you run the game in windowed mode, then move the cursor to one of the edges and then resize the window and scroll around, does it continue to work for you guys? The graphics get garbled for me, but I'm not going to raise this if it works ok for everybody else (may be a local problem with my graphics drivers).

No. I do not think you can resize the window.

You mean you can't resize the window because it won't resize, or that you shouldn't resize the window (even if you can) because game won't support it and that will trigger a problem?

If one shouldn't resize the window because the game won't support it, then the window should be made non-resizable. Otherwise, the player can resize the window by mistake (it just takes an small click on the border), triggering the problem and forcing to player to close the game and restart.

You can't resize the window because it won't let you. You can try and it does no harm but it still won't change

It's probably more correct to say that you can't resize the game map. I can grab a corner of the game window & shrink or expand the window; however, the size of the game map will remain the same. If I expand the window, I see the game map with big black borders around two sides, if I shrink the window I can only see a fraction of the game map. Every now and then I'll accidently hit the maximize button on the window which results in a lot of garbage in the maximized window. Hitting the "restore down" button on the window will restore everything to normal. However, someone else with a different video card & drivers may run into problems.

Very good, that answers it.

I certainly can resize the window, but it garbles the graphics for me; the problem is probably local for my grahics driver.

Thanks all [:D]

Now that's interesting because I can't do that. My window is fixed to the game map with no black borders. Strange are the ways of video cards

The windowed mode of the game does not display in a style with resizing disabled. This means you can use most of the typical MS Windows features to "resize" the window such as dragging the handles or clicking the maximize button. This will not resize the actual game screens however. If you increase the size of the window the new space will be filled in by black bars.

Everyone will have thier own prefernce for what they like the best. I wanted to run it in a window but never found a rez on my laptop that I liked with that setting so I run full screen. My laptop happens to support 1600 X 1200 which is the same aspect ratio as the game's native 1024 X 768, so I think it looks pretty decent.

One thing to try if you get hosed up graphics is to minimize the window (using the little minimize button in the upper right hand corner of the window frame) & then restore it. Sometimes this will clear things up (then again it may not!).
