Took Yap but had some ships hit by Bettys that had snuck into Palau. They will be visited by B-24s this turn.

Manila was nuked by BBs. By the time I get troops there for an attack it might just be for mopping up

Cleared out Yap. Sank 2 subs but lost a DE in the process. Yap will now be used as a B-25 base to soften up Ulithi.

Enough troops have arrived in Manila for an attack next turn. The supply convoys have started to arrive in the PI so I should be able to move the B-29s to Clark soon.

I now have to decide if I want to attack Taiwan, Okinawa, or Iwo Jima next.

B-29s finally flew and got slaughtered again. I lost 120 of them to take out 50 engine factories. All missions have been canceled until fighter cover is available.

Manila resitance is starting to falter. The base should be clear soon.

For now Formosa is looking like the next target. I had thought about Okinawa but I figure that I can continue to soften it up while I clear Formosa. Both give me bomber bases within range of the HI.

B-29s are proving to be extremely fragile. I thought they would hold up better. I guess late war Jap fighters are better bomber killers than early war Zeros.

Granted, the Navy pilot losses hurt but breaking the back of Japan's naval air arm was worth it. My CV bombers were set to AF attack so they did not go after the KB eventhough it was only 2 hexes away. Due to the heavy losses I will be retiring rather than pursuing.

Manilla was also finally cleared out so I can start planning for the invasion of Taiwan.

Just checked tracker and I lost 11 aces killed, 8 MIA, and 35 wounded. On the plus side I got 69 new aces.

My top ace with 23 kills was among the ones killed

That has got to be some kind of record for Air Kills (both A2A & on the ground) for a single day. His flight decks have got to be almost completely empty at this point, plus you've decimated his land-based air as well.

How long will it take for you to get back up to strength?

I may have to downgrade some VR-F groups but I will have enough Hellcats to replace the losses. Pilots are another story. I only have about 50 in the pool and they will be used up as soon as I get back to port.

Air drop on Pescadores turned out to not be so much of a suprise. About 5K Jap units arrived between turns either by air or fast transport and stopped the airdrop in it's tracks.

Landing should take plance at Tainan this turn if all goes well. It will take 2 trips since many of my transports are off gathering supplies but I should be able to put 9K AV ashore in the first wave.

Things are going well. I am getting used to the new job and the new night hours. I was on days for the last 10 years but have actaully been sleeping better since going back to nights. Now if I can just stop worrying about invasions failing I will be fine.
