While the allies are currently holding, orders have been given to all commanders that agression when in an advantageous position is the way to go.
It is therefore understandable when one of the American submarien commanders reports to have attacked an unescorted large Japanese tanker and scored a hit, but then decided to withdraw just in case enemy planes had been called for, that the skipper was ordered back to Brisbane where he is likely to be the new toilet-cleaner. In the state of things, only the commanders willing to take a chance can be given a command.

We are in desperate need of fighters, today the Japanese launched 20 bombers on our position and at the moment we have no more than 5 fighters of obsolete models ready for flight. Please send any that can be spared!

You should really take initiative.

Every attack you make forces him to react - or let you take your target. In the case of reaction, he can't proceed as intended, in case of no reaction, you've succeeded in securing your target.

I have taken bake Wake in two PBEMs in January or February 42. This forces my opponents to either postpone their anticipated offensives or to give me the island back.
Take enough troops to overwhelm the opponent quickly - he can't have enough to defend anywhere anyway - and trow it onto the beaches. Take enough engineers, AA, artillery with you, to secure the island - and take two dozend AKs filled with supplies as the newly captured island may have to hold out for months under blockade by the KB if he realizes he can't take it back. Doing this, you may get back vital bases to interdict his shipping, you can cost his nerves and you force him to play your game instead of playing his.

Obvious targets are Midway and Wake, where you might sneak in undetected.

After the initial landings and the closure of the airfield immediately withdraw your warships and send them back to safety. They are more important than APs and AKs. You may also use fast transport missions to assure surprise - and dont forget to bring enough fighters to make his aerial attacks costly [;)]
Without any doubt: I am the spawn of evil - and the Bavarian Beer Monster (BBM)!

There's only one bad word and that's taxes. If any other word is good enough for sailors; it's good enough for you. - Ron Swanson

I agree 100%, that was what Operation Rudolf was all about, of 50.000 troops brought, 1500 landed on the island. We were spotted 3 turns from the island, that was enough for him to relocate his bombers. As of today we have no operational carrier save the LI and the Brit carrier enroute to US for trading their Brit planes for USN ones.

There are only a few places I really can attack, and thosee is blocking.
My main plan atm is this:
1. Fly in 20 P40s to Noumea as well as 16 Kitties, this should allow my bombers to fly against his carriers outside the base.
2. Move a few airplane tenders to the base 2nd closest to PM (towards Darwin) so that I can relocate 48 Kitties to Darwin to help my bombers there strike against the carriers present north of the city.
3. Get the Brit CV to SF were it will form up with LI (and in 20 days or so the Wasp) to allow me to give my TFs some air cover.

Without #3 I cannot land anything anywere [:(]

Thanks for all the fighters, too bad the P40s cannot reach us, but we will put the Dutch fighters and the Kitties to good use. Please be adviced that the Japanese have sent 4 divisions into the city today. Have ordered our bombers to attack enemy ground forces in the city, will soon have 5 forts in the city to help protect us, but seems some more troops might come in handy. Please consider withdrawing one or two subs to Brisbane to rearm with mines.

The arrival of Kitties did not go unnoticed by the Japanese bomber crews. A total of 13 Japanese bombers were shot down over the city.

I fear we are in need of reinforcements, the enemy is able to bring 3 times the number of combat troops that we can muster.

Allthough the crews of the B17s stationed here are getting better, I fear we might need someone capable of droppong bigger bombs, the attached foto shows no real damage is being done by the 500lb bombs they drop.

Have ordered all planes to leave the base as the airfields are closed down due to enemy bombing runs. We are in desperate need of reinforcements, but I cannot advice any fleet to come close due to enemy bombers. The situation is dire. Supplies are still good though.

Today the enemy launched a deliberate attack, although we check the Japanese onslought, we have no chance to hold for more than a week without reinforcements.
