How can I stop the bleeding in Burma

Just got rather rudely ejected from Mandalay. Japs pretty much rolled up Burma. Any idea where they will stop because I don't seem to be able to do much about it. Got the first Australia Corp, but that is headed for Australia and Morseby.

I feel your pain. I think the Japs must have to get tired to slow down. The Brits certainly don't slow them down. This new AI is so much better than the last. I hope it continues throughout the entire game and not just at the beginning.

The Real British couldn't stop them either; this is probably more realistic.

The Burmese troops are REALLY bad in AE. I assume that's because they were IRL, and weren't motivated to fight for the King.

I've decided Calcutta is where I draw the line. Just try and hold them there. If that falls, I'm screwed.

Best would be a malaria-free zone behind a river or maybe a line on Imphal. I don't think it is realistic to hold Burma without major reinforcements. There is barely any AV there, maybe a division worth?

The Burmese units were often poor - the only good ones tended to be the Frontier Force and Military Police, both mainly manned by Gurkhas! I am having the same problem - I suspect because I did not use the two armoured regiments in Burma - in 1942 they (and the Chinese) were the main factors in slowing down the Japanese. Like Graymane intend to hold at Imphal/Kohima etc - not easy but the Japanese have a real serious supply problem reaching them - far worse than in the original game. What I cannot decide is what to do with Akyab - terrible to hold as ships would be an easy target for Bettys at Mandalay - but if they take it and build an airfield good enough for a large bunch of decent fighters Calcutta and Chittagong are in serious trouble.

Quite true. They only got motivated after a few months of being subjects of the Emperor (or more precisely, the Imperial Japanese Army.)

I think the Burmese remained mostly as "fence sitters" through all war, favouring one that looked stronger. Probably wise in their situation.

Anyway, I resigned Burma after unsuccessful stand in Pegu against IJ AI. Akyab, Cox Bazaar, Chittagong, Imphal, Kohima is reasonable defensive line. But prepare for big fight in Akyab. Good thing is that you at least have trail/minor road, Japanese have to bring in their supply via jungle.

With Akyab and Cox Bazaar, I wouldn't fight too hard to hold it. Supplying those 2 bases will be very difficult for the Japanese with the road network the way it is on this map. It seems to me like these are good places to try to make the Japanese commit a major supply effort.

Cox Baxzaar is dangerous because its off the rail line your biggest advantage is interior lines Cox Bazaar costs you that advantage - tripwire force only for me until all 4 sectors of the Indian Border are secure and rapid reaction forces are in place
