Problem: Intruder alert

Post by TheTomDude »

I'm playing the GC as Jap against the AI.
I encountered some weird thing happening at newly conquered bases. It happened at HongKong and now at Rabaul that some kind of allied small craft TF stays inside the base hex and cannot be removed. I sent in Surface TFs with and without "Retire" but they did no attack them when in the same hex. Aircraft as well are not able to attacke them. But the ships are there and seem to do nothing but harassing me. Maybe theres an error in the matrix? [:D] Dunno what to do with them buggers.

I managed to get those out of HongKong. They reacted to a mine sweeping TF I sent. But I still got them in Manila and Rabaul.

Erik
I'm sure the problem with these PT's and such staying in the captured harbours is ther is NO SCUTTLING of these ships happening. This should be the case as it was in Vanilla. But it doesn't happen. My merchants have just been slaughtered by a group of 10 PTs in Manila. This base belongs to my Jap empire for at least 1 month now like the rest of the PIs. Those ghost PT's appear one round then dissapear again and so on. [:@]
Any news about this problem?
Thanks
Tom

I also have the same problem, with an Allied PT TF that hasn't left Manila. I am playing the Japanese against the Allied AI in GC 2: Hakko Ichiu. I have a save that shows this as well. Also I can confirm that aircraft are ineffectual on these TF's.

I have to add something here. Maybe this can help you find the problem. As I said it happened to me in HongKong,Manila and Rabaul until now.

In Hongkong the allied PTs stayed for 2-3 rounds until one of my Mine Sweeper TFs I sent showed up and the PTs jumped on it. I managed to sink one PT and the rest then just left the hex and was sunk by some of my naval attack squadrons. Problem solved.

In Manila the allied PTs stayed also for 2-3 days until on of my merchant TFs showed up. The PTs then attacked te merchants and left the harbour. Fleeing East but wa not attacked by my Naval Squadrons even if in range and with enough planes, supplies aso. As if it would not be there. But it ran into another TF of mine and attacked. Thatwas around Batan Island. It is now still underway heading East.

In Rabaul it is still there sitting around doing nothing. Not attacking anything even though there's almost daily TFs coming in and going out the harbour.
It's there now for about 1 month. I have to put TFs to "direct" routing otherwise they turn around and flee.

In every location the ghost PTs can not be attacked by planes or surface TFs while in the base hex. Only the two (Manila+HK) that reacted on their own to my TFs left the base hex and were attacked, at least partially.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Tom

Got some of these in Hong Kong. What is the most efficient way to get rid of them? Zeros with high low naval skill?

Zip the save. then post. At the bottom of the post form click "click here to upload!". Follow the instructions to select your zipped save

The save must be zipped because the forum only allows certain file formats to be uploaded and .pws isn't one of them

Don,
I have the save file, but it isn't of the first turn where I capture Manila and the PT's remain. However, it does clearly show the PT's remaining in the port and not retreating from turn to turn. I'll load it now.

This sounds like the small (78') PT boats are good at hidding in a very large port area.  Manila and Rabual are large ports.  Manila harbor has a very long coast line and many small portages off of it, great places to hide PT's.

The problem still exists. Had the same PT behaviour in the ports of Palembang and Rangoon now. Still PTs/MLs and stuff are not scuttled but stay in port doing nothing but harassing the player.

Is this beeing adressed in Patch 1?
