OK Erik, but I have a question

OK Erik, but I have a question
First, please explain how the recently locked thread is trolling? Just because it allows people to voice negative viewpoints about a defective product Matrix released and has yet to effectively fix? I understand Pz rushed to Matrix's side, but where is the probation/ban for him? That is where the personal attacks on that thread started. I think that asking what people feel are the biggest issues that still exist for EiA is legitimate. You clearly disagree, but it was a question, not an attack. To react the way you did is, with respect, questionable. To say we cannot start a thread that shows Matix in a negative way seems very heavy handed and unreasonable. Plese show me in the guidelines your company has that the fourm posts and/or topics must show Matrix in a positive light? Especially given that the bugs, problems, and complaints are still fact based events, not just made up for the sake of "trolling".
secondly, for those of us that bought this product over a year ago with the understanding it was, as advertised, ready; How would you suggest we express our displeasure and fustrations? It has been a year Erik, and I still have garrisons disappearing, the Conf of Rhine not able to engage in combat, and many other issues still exist. Marshall deserves a raise for his efforts, but the fact remains. Matrix took payment for a defective product. What is your company's policy on that?

RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
Dude,
I'd be happy to bet anyone here $500 that this game won't be properly playable by August 10th, 2010.
Any takers?
Anyone from Matrix want to take the bet?

RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
Should we start a "When will this game be ready?" betting thread.
You and I speak for a large number of disappointed buyers.

Sadly, we are one of a few that post here. If we had more posters who gave their opinion and less "yes men" then the game might be headed in the right direction.
RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
you will have to have two bets at the same time. when it is ready, and when Erik locks the thread
RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
besides, many of the people that bought the game and got fed up have left the forums.

lol,

RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
ok, 3 bets

In what possible way is the game currently headed in the "wrong" direction? Posters have given their opinion, issues have been added to the Mantis bug tracker, and Marshall is working these issues off. Bugs and rule deviations are being fixed, PBEM game speed is being improved, AI is being improved, a classic scenario map and OOB is being considered, etc. etc. etc. To the casual observer, these are all good things demonstrating that the game is headed in the right direction. Slowly perhaps, but still moving forward.
So is the point here that posters who have opinions and have previously expresssed their opinions numerous times, and have had their opinions acknowledged by Matrix and Marshall, need to continue expressing these opinions over and over again to get the game headed in a "more right" direction?? If there are original comments to add to the discussions and constructive suggestions to offer, fine. But otherwise, the "no men" simply appear as crybabies in the back seat whining repeatedly "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" [:-]

Erik correctly recognizes bashing and trolling when he sees it. For heavy-handedness, go stick your nose over at Paradox and try bashing and trolling and see what it gets you. You guys just don't get it.
This is all so sad it's almost funny. In Christmas Story poor Ralphie had Scut Farcus as his evil nemesis and Grover Dill as the toadie sidekick. Here poor Marshall has NeverMan (with yellow teeth!) and borner as his little sidekick. Marshall needs the Scut Farcus action figure on his desk to really help him move this game in the right direction. [:D]

RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
Borner,
You seem to be completely misunderstanding me. We have no problem with criticism, I think a look through this forum would make that clear to anyone. What we do have a problem with are threads that are started specifically to "pick a fight" within the forum community, which that thread definitely was. That's what trolling is. A similar example of trolling would be to start a thread saying "this game is wonderful, it has no bugs and everyone who criticizes it is crazy.".
I've already warned everyone who was involved in the other thread, hopefully this response makes my position regarding the other thread clear. If you all choose to keep that going, there will be some "cool down time" issued.
Regarding the game itself, yes, there are still bugs. Please continue posting regarding those and making sure that we are prioritizing the fixes correctly. We cannot work any faster than we are on this, but we can certainly work to make sure our priorities better match our customers' biggest complaints.
Regards,
- Erik

RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
Incidentally, I just spoke with Marshall - the disappearing garrison issue you report seems to have started with 1.04/1.05 and has been fixed with 1.06.03. He does not appear to have a report on this Confederation of the Rhine problem. If you're having this issue, please provide us with some more details on this so that we can find and fix it.

RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
I guess pz can continue to do whatever he wants to do though so long as we don't start any negative threads. [8|]

As usual, not true. I have my limits and stay within them. You don't seem to understand what you're told and won't take a hint. I'll maintain a sense of humor with all this; whereas you continue to rant with spite and malice. It's a sad testimony that a grown adult (which I assume you are?) continues to behave as badly as you do. Maybe moderate your behavior? Just a thought...

RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
I happen to agree with Erik: That thread appeared to have been started just to pick a fight. See below for more on this, though.
Here's how to get the same question answered in a legitimate fashion (but, do NOT answer it here -- start your own thread on the subject if you want to probe it):
What are the biggest issues facing the current versions of EiANW? Can we prioritize the list so that Marshall has a good idea which direction the customers would like to see taken?
I'm not really a big fan of EiANW as it is now (released version 1.05). However, I am sticking it out here for the promise of something great: The legacy of EiA ported to computer. I'll pick on the warts, but I'll also point out the good things. Heck, I challenged both Marshall AND Matrix that their whole production coding model has big flaws in it, and I've repeated that challenge several times. The difference (I hope) is that I've done it in a way to pushes the whole product to a higher level.
Now, regarding communicating in a forum:
The original thread wasn't written that way, or at least it didn't come across that way. Forums are very difficult to master emotionally, because it is SO easy to read emotion into a statement that isn't really there. It's not our fault; it's just human nature: 93% of English communication is OUTSIDE the bounds of the language itself. Things like body language, tone of voice, etc., are nearly impossible to communicate via purely written communication. This is one reason nearly every forum or other non-vocal use of the language includes "emotes" or "smiley-faces": it helps towards that end.
It is extremely easy to be misunderstood when using the typed media alone. One must be very careful with ones words. Also, if one is currently emotionally-charged (positively or negatively), this caution becomes doubly important.

At LAST! The greatest campaign board game of all time is finally available for the PC. Can my old heart stand the strain?
RE: OK Erik, but I have a question
Erik
thank you for the reply.
As for the conf of rhine bug. I have not seen it, but others have, where the corps of the confederation cannot be attacked, and we are playing that one accodingly. perhaps others have run into it as well and can comment.
In regards to the other thread. perhaps I trust neverman's motives more than others, but Pz's reply was clearly in the form of an attack, and yet only neverman was threatened with retaliation. I also point to Pz's above thread and artwork. while amusing, is that not something that would fall into your "personal comments" policy and deserving of action on Matrix's part?
by what way Pz, how many Eia Games are you currently in?
thank you for the reply.

Clearly this has a lot to do with the fact that we are in games together and you've seen that I have a dedication to the game.

Hey borner, serious personal attacks are not usually followed by [:'(]=razz, eh? It's interesting how youse guys can dish it out but can't take it, even in jest. At least you acknowledge the amusing aspect of my posts. I wish I could say the same but I can't.
