Req. patrol planes attack report for patch

Post by CV Zuikaku »

Hi!
Now, this is becoming annoying... when we have patrol planes hitting our ships and we don't even get reports about that. Is this going to be addressed in the patch? It is very time consuming to check every TF in combat zones to se if there are any ships damaged? This reports were there in WITP- why aren't they in AE? [:@]

You get on-screen messages about recon attacks during turn execution - they will also tell you if a ship got hit.
And bombingg icon (red, if your playing allies) will appear above the TF being bombed.
But depending on your messages settings they can flash by pretty fast...

Well, I saw reports about enemy ships being attacked and hit by recon/patrol planes, but heve never seen message about my ship being hit- neither during turn execution or OP reports...

I'm with Zuikaku here. For every combat there should be a combat report. It doesn't matter if a bomber or torpedo or patrol plane attacks a target.

Maybe it's a FOW thing- but it is not logical to have FOW for your own ships... I'll try later tonight with FOW turned off- maybe then I'll get report when some of my merchies is hit by patrol plane... But I'm losing too much ships because I don't even know they are being hit - and that is annoying!

So it doesn't matter if FOW is ON or OFF? [:(]
And it really isn't important that much what hit the ship (FOW is OK) but that we know that ship is hit and in trouble!

I got the same thing - a ship was sunk and it listed nowhere in combat reports, so I reported it as a bug.

And I got another thread going saying that fogging effects on your own units is completely silly, makes the combat reports unreliable and close to useless, and adds a manual and boring step to playing the game (which is to check your units under combat to see if the combat reports have any resemblance to reality).

Plus this one - at least 3 threads talking about the problems of fogging combat results for your own ships when playing against the AI. This "feature" is incredibly frustrating to me -- I don't want to remove FOW completely, but I can't withstand commanders reporting that their ships were sunk when they weren't.

Some "features" are really troubling when people start to report them as bugs.

Cheers [:D]

If you're serious about going around and checking individual TF for damage, it's better to keep track of your damaged ship by using the all ships list and sorting by the damage column - particularly flotation.

If it was a rhetorical complaint, please excuse.

That is OK when you have less than 20 ships damaged [;)]

Me too [:D]

After my first (real) turn, I had three ships mystery-damaged in Saigon. I'm sure it was patrols, but it would be nice to know that.
