Beware the angry mob - Aztez vs Erstad Fanclub - OFF LIMITS TO BOTH PLAYERS!

Post by Fishbed »

Hey everyone!

Well I have been following Aztez' AAR since the beginning, and I am quite enjoying the fact that Erstad is starting one too. But I just realized we may need something new to cope with the new AE standards: a new topic off-limits to both players, so we can comment their game without giving out anykind of observation. Although Witp's plans were secret sometimes, Fog of War was cosmetic at best. Now, I must say that the FoW in AE is definitely way too advanced to allow us to comment without giving up unintentionnaly a piece of information now and then. [:-]
I know it requires a little bit of education and self control, but well we just can't comment as freely as before. Then I thought about my other games, board games, where usually the public is allowed a thread which shouldn't be read by either player.

So if you agree with that, if the moderation is ok, and if both players of course accept our secret gossip (and this can be very hard to bear actually, because the players know there are people talking behind their back, but just can't learn about it anytime soon!!!) well here we would go. Any thought?

Man I really have stuff on my mind now but gosh must keep it zipped and that's so awful! [:o]

Wow. A fanclub? But I have to wait three years to hear if you guys are impressed or are merely snickering behind my back? (Although I probably already know the answer [8|]

Ya, sure, I can keep my nose out of here.

Great idea fishbed .. i'll sign up for it.

Aztez vs Erstat is hopefully going to be a classic game as both players havnt done much if any turns vs the AI .. should be interesting and many people will learn a lot from the AAR's . That said, posting here about specific game mechanics and encounters from both sides perspective will make this an informative and must read AAR commentary.
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

I didn't notice this thread.

What Dave said.. I keep my nose out of here.

I noticed Dave started his occasional AAR.. well I will wait 3 years too. In the meantime we have some Japanese ships to get sunk.

The good thing is that AE gives you plenty to think about.

I noticed few fumbles already here and there but I will reveal them... well not in this thread though! [:D]

You can consider me signing off from this one just as Dave did.

I'll give this thread a not-completely-gratuitous bump.

I do not play AE. Played a bit of WITP but I don't have the patience for a game with this much logistical detail. I do enjoy the AARs though.

Anyway, I was wondering if some WITP/AE aficionados might comment on the following: Erstad is aware that he sunk or severely damaged two US CVs shortly after commencing hostilities, so should he revise his plans in light of that information - say, for instance, shift his attention/offense to the central and south pacific even if that was not his original plan? Does sinking two CVs early open a window for the Japanese to be particularly aggressive out to the east possibly at the expense of slowing operations in the DEI, and South Asia? Or would doing that just distract the Japanese player from more important long term objectives?

Any observations appreciated.

Thanks people!

Actually the FoW is very nice. Erstad seems to believe he actually sank 3 CVs, because Enterprise wasn't reported as such during the air attack. I'd love him to post a little more about the battles from his side. Although it wasn't needed in WitP, here it makes a big difference.

Wasn't the CV battle right at the start ? That would mean only 2 CVs around Pearl and one still on the WC, if so it's unlikely that Erstad believes he sunk 3.
Anyway, even with 2 down he could get a bit more aggressive in the pacific, the KB has assured it has the upper hand for some time to come.
The AE-Wiki, help fill it out
