Should I be worried?

Yesterday we had a very severe electrical storm and as I saved a game and closed down my computer there were 2 lighting strikes within 2kms of my place. After the storm had past all the setting in TOAW had changed i.e. the Intro Cinematic had changed from “do not play” to “play at start up” and the text contrast from highlight to standard. The saved game would not reload and the message displayed was “TOAW cannot load this version”. The directory had had also changed from WW2 – East Front to the Tutorials. I have been able to reloaded a previous saved game and several new games but have not played any turns. Should I be worried? [&:]

"Should I be worried?" Depends on what other artifacts of the 'disruption' you encounter. I personally would be doing a deep search to find out what all isn't as it should be. Having items shift from one folder to another/changes in the directory would scare the xxxx out of me, LOL! Especially if I found reason to suspect that this might apply to things other than ToaW.

You might run some checks: Windows explorer\ C:\ properties\ Tools\ error check should be safe enough and still tell you something.

If you have any third-party reg scanners, It cant hurt, LOL!

Using Windoze you might try the Way Back Machine (restore), assuming you've allowed it some disk space, and view the difference between your current state and the stored state. (remember to create a save for your present state, even if it's screwed..)

I was hoping someone with a higher tech level would jump in here befor now, but so it goes, eh? By now you've prolly tried these things.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked my hard drive and a couple of other programs and it all appears to be ok execpt the items above. TOAW was the only program open at the time and was in the process of closing down. I can not understand why the defaults would change unless there is something in the program itself to advise that there is some sort of error / problem. Or is one of those questions that have no answer like why does the sun rise in the east and not the west and why does the army always step off with the left foot.
