Why won't my transport TF stay at the enemy base?

Post by Fallschirmjager »

I have a huge transport TF assaulting Attu. However the problem is that it unloads during the night and then proceeds to steam off back towards Dutch Harbor. I had the same problem earlier with my attack on Kiska. I am sure it is some kind of user error but I am not sure where I am going wrong.
They are not being scared off by a enemy TF nor are they taking damage from coastal guns. They simply refuse to stay put. I have tried both remain on station and retirement allowed but that does not change things.
This has me pretty puzzled.[&:]

EDIT: All units are in strat mode so they can be moved.

You are "assaulting" an enemy held island is STRAT mode? Sounds like suicide. The troops should be in combat mode in an Amphib TF, me thinks.

Yea, I don't think you can assault enemy base with Transport TF and units in Strat mode. Strat mode means all the stuff is packed and in crates etc. How the hell those guys are going to storm the beach when all their stuff is in crates? [8D]

Yes you cannot unload troops in strat mode at an enemy base. Even if the base would be empty. You can only pack or unpack (including load/off-load) LCUs at friendly bases. As long as it is not your base, they cannot be unloaded.
Same with railroad. You cannot send a LCU in strat mode to an enemy held base along the railway even if the whole rest of the railway is clear/friendly.

Use an Amphib TF...which can only load units in combat mode.

I think only LST, LCI etc can be a Amphib TF.
If I understand this right you have to put units in Amphib mode and load them into a transport TF containing APs.
I did not know there was a amphib mode so that was my mistake.

No Sir, most if not all transport ships fit into an Amphibious TF. You can create an Amphibious TF like you create any other TF.
And no there is NO amphib. mode. The LCU has to be on "combat" mode.
