Italy joins axis event?

Italy joins axis event?

Currently i'm playing the grand campaign but i have a problem:

I cannot become part of the axis forces because it takes forever to get enough dp. I already bought the haste option once and my alliance entry is 64% but now there is nothing for me to do exept to wait and slowly see my dp rise to 49.

Its now december 1942 and bulgaria hungeria and rumania are out of the game because of the ussr. Spain is part of the axis alliance? as italy i own north afrika, jerusalem is under siege. I own jugaslavia and greece. and now i have my forces at the border with the ussr waiting for those dp point.

Is this a design desision or is there something wrong? it is really anoying since i can see the german borders being pushed back to germany and i cant even help them.

It looks like something went wrong.

I'm sure I've made a new event for the patch that will for sure get Italy into Axis, but I think previously there was also such possibility.
The only thing that comes to my mind is that you have choosen to conquer Yugo in one of the early events. (Regia Marina IIRC)
