Can't load saved game

Post by port0871 »

First off, I bought this game at the beginning of August and I have to say: AWESOME game. It is just the right scale, and an almost perfect mix of ease and complexity. That's not to say I won't post some suggestions for historical tweaks in the future -- military history major, and WW2 obsessive.

My main problem now is that I've been playing a game as the Comintern against AI for a couple of weeks now, and all of a sudden I can't load the saved game. When I select it, the game closes and I'm left looking at the small page you open the game, manual, etc., from. This is frustrating, as I've entered France from the East, fighting the Germans back all the way. It's sometime in 1942, I can't remember the exact date.

I've checked, and I can start new games, and also load a 1939 saved game.

I've attached the DxDiag file, since that seems to be needed.

Like I said, I love the game, and just want to get back to playing it.

Actually the best files to supply are the saved game folder, and the ConsoleOut.Txt file. ConsoleOut is in the main folder. If you zip the saved folder, and the consoleout together and post them here I, or someone else will take a look, and we should have a good chance of getting it fixed. The ConsoleOut will be overwritten by your other attempts, but the saved game folder will let us see the problem. In the future remember this file, ConsoleOut.Txt, as it has the last successful ops in it, and good clues to problems.

Send the folder on up.

Copy that.

Problem, though: I zipped down the saved game folder and consoleout.txt, but the file comes out at a bit over 1 MB; the limit for upload is apparently 500 kb. How should I get the file to you?

I went ahead and uploaded the zipped consoleout.txt, but the save game was still too big.

Your problem is that a convoy is originating from Hamburg (I think) which has been cut off from the sea, and is no longer a port. Please send the convoys.csv file by itself, and we can fix it in a jiffy.

I/m having the same happen.

Last lines of consoleout,txt are:

HMS Prince of Wales belongs to fleet Channel Force
Transport #401 belongs to fleet Channel Force
Transport #402 belongs to fleet Channel Force
Transport #403 belongs to fleet Channel Force
Loading London Home Guard into HMS Prince of Wales
London Home Guard is supposed to be loaded into HMS Prince of Wales
But this isn't transport or amphib. fleet. Data integrity error! Game terminated.

Can you direct me to the fix?

Thanks

Seem to have fixed. From naval_units:

401;HMS Prince of Wales;9;1;41;8;8;0;0
401;Transport #401;9;4;41;1;1;0;0

Assumed 401 serving as identfier that should be single, Changed Prince of Wales to next available number and save is loading. Seems that's the bug, it shouldn't happen.

The developers do know about the duplicate ID bug. Good dectective work.

Curiously I think it was the Price of Wales which chased the Bismarck with civilians aboard. Probably your situation!

Fix for Convoy

Post by cpdeyoung »

It was Hamburg, which becomes an un-port when the route to the sea is interdicted.

The line I removed was : 27;0;0;116;76;118;73

This is a convoy from 116,76 (Hamburg) to 118,73 (Kiel).

Got it, put it in place and. . . drumroll please. . . it works.

You guys rock. Thanks for the quick response, and especially the quick resolution. You've got a satisfied customer.

Now just do a Pacific Theater game with this system and I'll probably never leave home again. . .

The support from the Wastelands guys is excellent, but every once in awhile I can beat them to a posted problem. I love this game too, and am glad to help when I can. I am delighted to see so many happy gamers in this system I spend so much time with.

Have fun. I am!

It seems I've got a similar bug. The last lines of ConsoleOut.txt are:

Loading 31 Corrazzata into Maxim Gorky
31 Corrazzata is supposed to be loaded into Maxim Gorky
But this isn't transport or amphib. fleet. Data integrity error! Game terminated.

I've looked in a few files but don't see anything obviously wrong.

Ah, I had to edit both the land_units.csv and naval_units.csv files.  It appears I've fixed my problem.
