Targeting Repair Shipyards

Post by ny59giants »

The AI just taught me something that both sides can use, targeting Repair Shipyards. KB-1 (Akagi & Kaga) hit Soerabaja and besides the TKs sunk, a group of bombers hit the Repair Shipyard and damaged 7 of 8. Thus, I'm down to 1000 capacity and it kicked out a few damaged Ducth subs trying to get repaired. [X(]

For an Allied player, they will need to add City Attack training for their B-17s. For Japan, Manila, Singapore, and Soerabaja may need to be hit to stop and/or severely restrict the ability to repair ships close to the front early in the war.

Another lesson learned the hard way today.

One reason my game has house rule against any city bombing until 7/43 (I wanted 1/44 but lost the debate). City "infrastructure" is still way too vulnerable - too easy to get "game over" results - at least IMHO !!!

No plan to - doesn't mean it won't - but no plan to. Issue has always been there since day one of WITP. Some people have house rules against it some don't - just depends on preference.

Having played an early WITP game (as Japanese) where my opponent made a point of sending every 4EB bomber he could against my "CITY" targets every turn - I saw the light. They are collectively not defensible with the available assets.

I've also noticed that the Japanese interceptors (aircraft specifically designed to deal with the 4EBs) are nerfed in stock.

Planes with "cannon" like the "Tony" in stock can blow 4EB out of the sky. I've gotten 50, 60, 70 shot down per raid when they have come in unescorted, but the Tojo's for instance, do not perform as well.

There are more important things. This is easily dealt with as a house rule.

As I've stated before ... the strategic bombing interface is too revealing, and strategic bombing is too powerful, especially now with HI being concentrated in half the HI facilities. It is something that I hope will be considered one day as very important...
