Transport TF unload bug (?)

Post by MadmanRick »

I think I've identified some sort of bug. I'm playing the Allied AI and I have a transport tf that I've been attempting to unload at Singapore for at least 5-7 days now. I have naval support of 475 in the hex (significantly higher than any other Japanese controlled port), yet this darn thing will not unload. The tf screen shows that it has 14 troops on board, but they do not show up on the individual ships. Ive tried everything to unload this tf, I've even tried loading more supplies on board and then unloading, it still won't unload. I've also noticed that Singapore is showing up with the "shipping docked" numbers in red? Perhaps that's the issue. Anyway, I finally formed a new tf with those same ships and the "shipping docked" numbers magically changed from 157,085 (noted in red) to 94,500 (now in green). Again all I did was move the ships from the original tf (#262) to a new tf (#5). I haven't yet run the turn to see if they'll finally unload, however I have these screen shots and saves both before and after I reformed the tf and it changed the base screen.

We have been looking for the cause of this for months. I will check out the saves. If you have any more, please retain them, just in case.

Ok, I realized after I posted all this stuff that when I changed the tf from one to another, I accidently went from an amphib tf to a transport tf. However I went into the game quickly and switched it back to an amphib tf and the "shipping docked" numbers stayed the same, so whatever is going on here, is unrelated to the change from amphib to transport. It was simply changing the tf to whatever that did the trick. I'll run the turn tomorrow and figure out if it'll unload after the change.

The issue here is residual load on the TF after the unit has unloaded. We've seen this 5-6 times over the last couple of weeks but have not been able to isolate what causes it. By the time players notice and send a save the damage is done.

Really, really, really need a save when the TF is still good. And perhaps the first one when it is bad. Got one?

Don,
Sadly I do not. It took me about 3 or 4 turns before I realized that this tf wasn't completely unloading and I had moved way beyond that stage by then. I will tell you that I am now saving my games in different slots, so that I always have at least (in game days) two weeks worth of turns at all times. I'll catch this bugger if it happens again.
