How many days have KB visited your PH?

Post by rockmedic109 »

Just got through the fifth day. They've sunk only three BBs, but the airbase is in tatters and many ships are damaged. And I lost Enterprise when I stupidly brought them in after the third day of KB, thinking they were going.

Does the AI have to worry about sorties? I think they are out of torps. Pretty soon they should only have rice balls to drop on me.

Is that 5 days in close or are you getting remnant strikes as they retreat.

Nothing we coded would allow for 5 days of strikes.

There is a small chance they hit for a day move off and come back I am beginning to wonder if the opening we scripted didnt move them away far enough and they are launching LR strikes.

The AI should be hitting PH once a lot.
Twice a fair amount of the time.

Three times very small chance
Twice move away come back very very small chance.

I wonder if these 5 day marathons are because the Ai is hitting while its moving away which it shouldnt be doing.

They started to leave on the 12th, but continued to pound me until they were out of range.  Then they pounded Midway on the way out.  They must have had 876,567 sorties available.

Next time, I'm going to let Wake bite the schnitzel and put the two CAGs south of PH, maybe with a little LR cap over Pearl.  This would be quite a gamble and could result in my losing both of them, but PH just got creamed far too badly this last time.  I can't wait for the nukes to arrive so I can pay them back.  Let's see, one a month starting in August '45 ....

Only 1 day for my PH attacks. It may have helped that I hotfooted to Wake island and destroyed the body of the amphibious fleet sent to invade the island with one of my CV TFs. KB left station and headed immediately West to intercept. Almost got me too...

Playing agains the AI and the KB attacked for 5 days, a little less each day.  But I had them only 2 hexes NW of PH.  Discovered the Tanker TF still 2 or 3 Hexes NW near Midway.  Didn't have any aircraft left to attack execpt 2 PBY's.  Sent 2 TF's of PT's and recorded a torpedo hit on the Akaghi.  Enterprise and Lexington were at Wake, then moved north and later northeast to stay clear of the KB.  Sara coming from the west coast stayed clear.  2 BB's sunk, all other BB's & CA's are in the shipyard; heavy float damage and massive system damage as well as engine damage.  Fires were under control after about 2 days.  Didn't lose any more ships.  Almost no A/C left undamaged.  After the 13th the KB showed up at Wake and eliminated what was left of the A/C and covered the capture of Wake.  That took 2 days.

I've done 5 starts vs AI:

- One time they attacked one day then left (long range attacks second day).

- One time they attacked two days then left (weather was bad I think).

- Three times they stayed until on the fourth day a PT (twice) or a sub (once) nailed a carrier. Long range attacks on the way out.

They always nail Midway on the way out.

Two days in my and search plans report that the Japanese TFs are moving northwest.
Their second strike was over 200 planes but did very little damage. It mauled some air units in AA combat but most of the bombing was scattered and inacurate on only two new ships took damage.
Unfortunatly my AA was equaly bad and only 7 attackers were shot down.

I do non-historic but I don't mess with anything in Pearl Harbor. NH allows me to make changes in China and lots and lots of housekeeping changes all over.

I only play non historic. I am kind of upset with the design team that they create task force Z and send it to it's death before you can do anything about it. Why would the British form a fleet and sail before the decrelation of war? I am suprised someone has not complained about it yet. It is pretty much handing the Japanese 500 points on a tray.

I am sorry you missed the complaints [8D] It was brought up at great length the opening days of the release.

i'm more concerned the KBs lack of activity after PH. I am playing as allies and its early March 1942. The KB has made a couple of forays up to midway but i hadn't seen it for a while.

Also my own carriers are shooting up jap AK/AP at Shortlands and Munda(?) and racking up sunk ships very quickly.

I loaded up as japan and KB seems to be sat in port in Tokyo - one has 7 system damage (nothing major) and i don;t think they are even due refits until July. Also there was another couple of cv's seemingly doing nothing in the waters near the jap mainland.

Is this normal behavior or a refit? - only i am feeling guilty that i am having such an easy time of it at sea (whereas in Burma on land i am getting my ass well and truly kicked- though even there jap use of airpower is very poor)

How do you guys use the KB when you play as japan - i would imagine its in action as much as possible?

thanks

KB pounded me for 4 or 5 days straight.

Sank all 8 BB's.
A single CA + DD's were the only undamaged surface fleet vessels left. One CA had a 484 day repair estimate in dry dock (but it's repairing much faster than the estimate)

The upside was that I knew where KB was for quite awhile and I sank Ryujo and Nagato shortly thereafter with my CV's. [:D]

Cheers

Only 2 but I lost 6 x BB, 6 x DD and 1 x DM as a result. That's more than enough.
