Additional Host Editing Options Suggestion

Post by DCWhitworth »

Marshall

I'm sure I am not alone in saying that the ability to change PPs and money that you added to the host functions in PBEM games some time ago is an exceedingly useful feature that has saved a lot of grief.

Since we are still some way off a perfect game it would be really useful if this function could be extended to include -

Changing control/status of minor countries.
Changing/removing enforced peace status between nations.
Changing/removing enforced access status between nations.
Changing/removing alliance restriction status between nations.
Adding/removing manpower.
Adding/removing VPs.
Changing control of loaned units.
Adding/removing strength points from existing units.

This list isn't comprehensive but the ability to do these things would work around the majority of issues that we have encountered in games recently.

Good Idea David, it would get most of the problems that do come up

How about the ability to change the date of the game, so players could leap forward in time,

Or at least set the skip settings of all players to skip until the next player who has reinforcements, or an eco turn comes up (the money editor could be used to deal with supply costs, players would give the host an estimate of the supply costs).

Hey guys:

Some of these seem reasonable BUT tell me about the below, please:

Changing/removing enforced peace status between nations. WHY?
Changing/removing enforced access status between nations. WHY?
Changing/removing alliance restriction status between nations. WHY?
Changing control of loaned units. THE REPATRIATION ISSUES SHOULD BE FIXED NOW???
Adding/removing strength points from existing units. WHY?

Help me understand what problems they are fixing?

Thank you

OK some of these will help issues, rather than bugs. e.g. in the midst of a crucial war Austria forgets to loan Prussia three corps. Rather than ruin the game through an oversight we would have to rewind the game so Austria could correct this. With this option the host could correct this.

Another issue that seems to crop up is that people claim their peace conditions have not been enforced. This seems to come up fairly often. It might be an unidentified bug, but also might be player error.

But mostly they are there 'in case', they enable a host to tweak the game, fix issues, correct player oversights and even implement house rules.
