Scenario Designers Wanted

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Scenario Designers Wanted

Post by Joel Billings »

We're at the point where we could use one or two more people to become familiar with our data editor and begin to make scenarios for the game. The editor is very usable, although as yet unpolished. Part of the desire to bring in a few more people now is so they can get experience using the editor and can help us test and debug the editor before release. Making these scenarios is extremely time consuming and requires an ability to find very detailed information on the various armies and campaigns. We have some good websites we can point people too, but unless you speak Russian, you won't get as much out of some of them. [:)] Of course there may be some very good German websites as well, but the German information has tended to be more available in English than the Russian sources. Of course, I don't expect you to speak Russian or German (it just might help if you do).

For those of you that really enjoy making scenarios, this might be a job for you. I hesitate to call it a job since it doesn't pay, unless you become so valuable that we decide we have to throw you a bone to keep you working. [;)]

If this wonderful task sounds interesting to you (you find yourself wanting to paraphrase Gimli's quote, "Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?"), then email me at 2by3@2by3games.com. Please list your experience working with game editors in the past, and if you've had any scenarios published in any products. Also, list your experience with WWII and particularly Eastern Front games (board, miniature and/or computer). Please don't email me if you are just looking to be a tester. Periodically I'll call for new testers, but that's not what I'm looking for here. We'd like to be able to get a good selection of scenarios available when we ship War in the East, and we hope to polish and debug the editor sufficiently to allow users to use it after the game is released. You can help make that possible if it's something you are seriously interested in contributing to with your time and energy.
All understanding comes after the fact.
