Subs Running Out of Fuel

Post by jimh009 »

Hello,

At first I thought it might have been me, or a bug in the code, but no longer. Virtually ALL my subs that I assign to a patrol route are running out of fuel...usually 8-10 hexes away from home port. But in some cases, they are even farther away than that.

Needless to say, this is decimating the Allied sub force...as the damage points rack up quickly, thus requiring lengthy repairs.

This is happening for all allied subs...british, dutch and US.

About the ONLY subs that aren't running out of gas are those that are "forced" to return to their home port early to reload torpedoes. But if a sub still has any torpedoes left, it seems to be hanging out in it's patrol zone far too long before returning to home port.

Please tell me this is going to get fixed in the upcoming patch???

Let me just clarify how I use my subs. Right now, I have three "main bases" for subs...Pearl, Noumea and Colombo. When the sub is in it's home port, I click the patrol zone option and let the computer do it's thing. The subs go to their patrol zones (which is quite effective, btw)...but then never make it back in time to their home port before running out of fuel.

Seem to have a similar problem, playing second what if campaign scenario as Allies against the AI.
Using Darwin and Brisbane with AS etc in support but this only seems to happen near Darwin, changed the home port from Manila to these locations so I assumed the change of base was causing what may be a temporary problem.

Happens to me in Townsville as well as Darwin. Kind of shocking to see a sub limp into port with damage of 88.

We know.
OK, cool. Figured someone did, but...better safe than sorry.

Safe to assume it's taken care of in the next patch?

Should be. I think jwilkerson said it's because sub TFs didn't take account to possible reaction moves and daily consumption. This was because check for returnint to base was made before movement, so subs could run short of fuel by one day movement because of this.

Nevertheless this game is superb and I'm enjoying ever minute of game play.
Again thanks to everyone concerned with it development and ongoing support, pity we don't have a team photo, might be nice to see a " doctored period " photo in the loading screen.

Damage of 88 seems to indicate more than one days shortage of fuel. This particular sub had not seen action. Was sent from PH to patrol near Shortlands and then to go to Townsville. Once I discovered the problem, I noticed lots of subs out of fuel, many days from port. Now I keep patrols close to fuel sources.
