AE EDITOR

Post by Herrbear »

Not sure if the right place to post. I have a question regarding the Editor. If I am changing a device in a class of ship (for example -- add a 40mm Bofers AA Gun (1539) replacing a 20mm AA Gun (1540 and the class of ship has 50 ships in that class that already is set up with the 20 (1540, is there a way to globally replace the modified class to the 50 existing ships in the ship database?

Thank you.

Let's say you have a bunch of ships in slots 50 to 100 that you want to change. Start by making the necessary change to the Class of the ship, and then go into the Ship tab. Click Tools and Set Ships, make the screen look like the screen shot below, and click Apply and Done. The End.

Yo Brum, nice to see you diving in at last, HOWEVER, any tweaks will be erased with patches so make them where you can bring them over to any new OOB/patch line by line from a unique saved scenario.

Er, I might add one "silly" intermediate step. If you aren't sure what you are doing (like me), save your scenario files (in a separate place) first.

Any data tweaks will in no way be erased by patches. I can personally guarantee it.

Our patches only affect the official scenarios, and Herrbear can only mod a scenario to be saved outside that range (slot 26+).

Yes, I do understand that. I should have said that if you want your tweaked mod/scenario to include any " official" updated OOB then you would have to find each change in the "official" OOB and bring them into your mod/scenario on a line for line basis. Or you could line for line include your changes into a copy of any new OOB. There is that better sorry for the confusion.

Again, my thanks to all. I am aware that any "official" changes would not override my changes. I was really just trying to find out how to do it and practice at the moment. Again, my thanks to all for their quick responses and concerns.

No. If you have the same 50 slots I show above, but they contain ships of 10 different classes, you can still use this function.

Great I was wondering where this function had gone to in the new editor. Gotta say I liked the simple one button push to update all ships in the Witp editor though.

Thanks for your help again T!

You can do that from the same pop-up I show above. There's a little checkbox called "All Slots".

For most purposes (almost anything aside from the map, I believe) the new editor is wonderful.

The only thing I wish could be added to it's functionality within it's current scope is the ability to copy/paste a range of slots across scenario databases - and I can see how that could be awkward to achieve.

Many thanks again, apparently my old eyes did not register the grayed out box. This is most helpful. Thanks T
