CVs not upgrading

It is March 6, 1942 and CV Lexington and CV Saratoga are sitting in Auckland (level 6 port with level 15 repair shipyard). They both have "yes" for their 3/42 upgrades and have been sitting in port since the 1st of the month. The upgrade is listed as needing at least a level 10 repair shipyard but Auckland seems to have this covered. I've repeatedly read thru rule 14.1.1 (upgrades) but can't figure out why they aren't upgrading. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?

This one is really sort of an OOB error.

1. The upgrade specifies a minimum upgrade shipyard size of 10.
2. Lex/Sara are 36,000 tons and can not fit into a shipyard less than 36.

Since Auckland is only 15, the carriers can not fit there - even though the shipyard meets the minimum size of the upgrade.

Allowing a 36,000 ton ship into a 15,000 ton maximum shipyard can not be considered. It would break too many things.

The proper thing is to either clear the minimum shipyard size in the upgrade or to set it to at least ship tonnage. For now, you need to get them to a big port with big shipyards.

Thanx Don. That makes sense and I'll have to keep that in mind in the future when big ships come due for upgrades.

(edit) looking ahead I see the Enterprise (20K tons) is due for an upgrade in April. The upgrade has a "0" for minimum shipyard required. Will I need to move the Enterprise to a 20+ shipyard or will the smaller yard at Auckland be sufficient? Basically, I'm wondering if the upgrades with the "0" for minimum yard are an exception to the issue that I had with the Lex and Sara.

No, the "0" in minimum shipyard size tells you that a shipyard is not required for that upgrade.

Looks like this might be wrong. I am attaching my 4/1/42 turn with Enterprise (20K tons) in Auckland port (15 repair yard). The 4/42 upgrade says "0" for shipyard size required but Enterprise doesn't upgrade when you run the turn. I am currently moving her to Sydney (40 shipyard) to see if she'll upgrade in that port.

Adjustments have been made to upgrade processing. I think they are in the beta patch, if not in the full patch.

You are still running original release so you will not see the adjustments.

So in my example, Enterprise should upgrade in Auckland once I apply the patch? I'm waiting for the official patch 1 before I upgrade (and restart my GC).

Yes, based on shipyards. Some other calculations are still being discussed. I think there is code in the beta patch that loosens the port size requirement (used when shipyard is not required). May tweak a bit more, may not.
