British surrender.

Post by Champagne »

I've taken all of the VPs in the UK, but the British refuse to surrender.

They offered a peace, and, I went with the "puppet" option, which they refused.

How to end the war with the UK/British?

That makes sense.

But the game should inform the player of this fact.

I may be a complete idiot but I've given up on any hope of a British surrender due to the hex that is Gibralter. I can't get to it, simple as that. I'd have no problem declaring war on Spain to get to it but alas, I'm not allowed to and I've given up hope of ever acquiring enough diplomatic points to convince the Spaniards to join the axis. As soon as I spend points to persuade them they then persuaded back. I've wasted over 100 DPs trying to talk them into the axis. If anyone knows a way for me to gain control of Gibralter I'd love to hear it. It's the only VP Britain still has left in my game.

You need Gibraltar in Axis hands for British surrender

Commonwealth, having Great Britain conquered, could have continue the fight by using one of their dominions as a base. They could have use Canada, India, South Africa, Australia for example.

By the way, I did purchase ToW yesterday. [:)]

Great news! Welcome aboard.

for a possible solution to this (and many similar problems.) There has been a lot of push back from the design team about changing the current surrender system. (Basicly, there isnt one.) Oh yes, I began to play took me many hours just for the conquest of Poland, which fell on October 24th, Warsaw itself fell october 16th. But on October 16th, I was already moving strategically troops on the Netherlands's frontier and did declare war on Netherlands. I did honor the pact with USSR to not have them on my back.

I like the feeling with the huge maps with full of hexes. The polish army, did some moves which were logical, trying to fall back when I was encircling it. I have yet to see how is the AI.

Back to Gibraltar, right now you can't shore bombard and I wasn't able to do an airborne invasion either.

Back to the British Surrender issue, since in my new game, Spain joined the Axis and Gibraltar has fallen.

In fact, all British VPs on the game mapboard are all in Axis hands.

I chose the Fight to the End option, and, Britain fights on, even though they've lost all of their VPs.

Is there an explanation for this?
