Design decision?

Post by jgsIII »

Hello,

I just bought WitP AE. WOW! What an jump from WitP? And I am sure I haven't seen half the new things yet...

I am a bit disappointed in one change though. What happened to the ability to turn a region over to the computer for control (like Alaska or China) while you concentrate on the regions of interest? I don't seem to find a way to turn that on if it does still exist.

My best guess is that it was a design decision to eliminate that from the game. If that is true, what in the world are we going to do if we have no interest in China for example? Do we ignore the theater and get clobbered there losing points? I mean it looks like we have tons to do with a lot more units to manage already in this release. Forcing us to manage a theater we are not interested in is not IMHO the best for the gamers.

What do the rest of you guys think?

I'm not sure if you would call it a design decision. I think with the changes to the map and AI routines, it would have taken a lot of extra work to make it work.

I don't mind. I never actually used that feature in WITP(in fact I don't even know how to turn it on).

As for china, a surprising number of decent players just ignore that theater. Me on the other hand, hardly a decent player[8|]

I don't ignore China, but truth being told not a lot is needed to be done there either.

- Set all rear troops to Rest.
- Set Repairs off on as much Facilities as possible to spare supplies.
- Move LBs to Chungking and Changsha, closer to the battlefield.
- A few battle movements and counter-attacks here and there, to keep the Japanese player on his or her toe.

It was removed because we had to write an entirely new AI processor, and it couldn't be made to work with it.
We are all dreams of the Giant Space Butterfly.
