In order to play the game in windowed mode, you'll first need to download the hotfix patch. Once you've installed the hotfix, you will need to modify the command line string by right clicking on the WiTP-AE shortcut and adding the -w to the command line. Once you've done that, the next time you start the game, it should start in windowed mode. Hotfix can be found here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2190873

I wish to know if vlcz benefitted from your instructions? I did not.

Where Precisely do I enter these switch codes. I have attempted numerous variations on the theme. After finding the AE "Quick Start" Properties I see a label entitled "Target:" I do not see "Target Field" anywhere! Associated with "Target:" I see "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe". I have added "-w" at the end (i.e. ..... .exe"-w), before the "
(i.e...... .exe-w"), and even before the .exe (i.e. .....Edition-w.exe"). With every attempt I get......,

The name "'C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe"-w' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path an file name are correct.

Please see the new readme in the v1083 public beta for more detailed instructions. In the meantime, your target field should look like this, make sure that's all that's in there if all you want is Windowed mode.

You need a space before -w (and you need a space between each option you are using). For example, here is my command line:

"C:\Matrix\WITPAE\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -deepColor -altFont -cpu1 -multiaudio

God bless ya ncdawg for your succinct reply. I've been running a fever for the past week and the "specialists" (i.e. MD's) are beginning to appear to be less "special" in my eyes. [;)]

glad you lightened up, Caliban. Be forewarned my experience was the -w worked to windo the game, but limited me to less that availlable screen space; back to using the 'windows' button(XP box)
