No November team calendar

Post by HotCornerDave »

Details: v1.83, real player association, beginning in 1998, using real schedule.

Due to the the way PureSim schedules playoffs (7 game series even during the divisional wildcard era, with long breaks in between), the World Series runs into November. Game 4 of my 1998 World Series was played on October 31st. The last two games of the series ran into November. I can't go into a team's schedule and view the games played in November. The only months displayed at the top of the schedule window are March thru October. I can see the results of the games though if I go to the association Games window, then click back thru November.

Shaun, is there any way we can get the 5 game divisional playoff for the modern era? Maybe shorter breaks in between each series (although, I don't know what the default break is for MLB in general)? And last, a November schedule calendar for each team?

Thanks,

Dave

OK, I had to look it up, but a WS game was played in November 2001 (in Arizona) and the 2009 WS is scheduled to run (if necessary) through Nov 4.

So yeah, Dave, I think Shaun should look at expanding the calendar.

Personally, I think that November baseball is just wrong, but that's what we now have. May as well get used to it.

I agree, for a number of reasons, that November baseball is wrong. And I guess if the real MLB calendar is going to run into November, then Shaun will have to include a November team calendar at some point. For now, I think the schedule would stay in October if he coded a 5 game divisional series and reduced the length of the breaks between each series.

In 2009 real MLB, teams will have 3 days off between the regular season and the beginning of the divisional playoffs. Between the divisional round and the LCS, if the divisional round were to go all 5 games, then the teams would have 1 day off before starting the LCS. And for advancing to the World Series, the AL will have at least 2 days off, while the NL will have at least 3 days off. Crazy.

I think in PureSim, maybe Shaun could schedule the playoffs as 3 days off before the divisional round, 1 day off before the LCS, and 2 or 3 days off before the World Series. And with a static playoff schedule, if a team sweeps their round, they get quite a few days off.
