Game ends on 2/17/42 with crash (Public Beta)

Post by geobaz »

The game ends with a crash. I tried backing up to a previous save and playing from there, but it still crashes on Feb 17 during the computer phase. What file would be useful for you to have? It is frustrating....
I am running with the 1080 hot fix.

Updated to public beta 1083c and game still crashes consistantly at the 8th air ops phase (looking at Japan).

Okay, the file is attached. Crash is repeatable. Let me know if you need something else.

Please zip the save file that duplicates the crash, ideally the one from the turn right before the crash if it reliably duplicates it. Zip that up and post it here as an attachment please.

Issue found and verified.

It is caused by a Player Routing Control of Safest, combined with an attempt by the AI to generate a patrol zone near Clark Field. Topographical features and enemy air superiority prevent a TF with Safest from routing into these dangerous waters, returning the dreaded range of 9999. This range is used by a hex-offset program to calculate patrol zone boundaries, creating an overflow.

Debating how to address this now. In the meantime, I would recommend that players do not use Safest for sub TFs.
